First question before he got through the door with his tray was "what the fuck were you doing giving Eagles MOM?" "We chose Bogdan, but some corporate host came round and said if you choose Eagles he will come in your suite ( oo-er!) and accept the award do a bit of Q+A and photos etc etc which we weren't going to turn down when entertaining guests" etc etc. Thinking back, probably explains some bizarre choices in the past. One table who selected the winner then got to award the prize, we were never advised that some players would be available for photos & others wouldn't show up. There is a MOM voted in each home stand to keep the corporates happy, the player collects the award from the first lot, then hands back to a club official who pegs it over to the second, who then hand it over again to the player, who looks genuinely surprised, who hands it back to a club official, who pegs it over to the third.
