I don't agree with the system, its utterly flawed. Its just Kent still has the 11-plus. Two of mine wanted to take it and passed, the third doesn't want to take it, has no interested and will be going to the high school. No issues from me.

Getting in has also bog all to do with academic ability, its just coaching the kids through, esp with the verbal and non verbal reasoning bits. Its like learning how to play a game.

There's loads of places that still have the 11+.

What do folk think- is she favourite for tomorrow?

The way she's playing, dismantling her opponents, every chance she can win

But the other girl has been beating top players

I honestly think it's very very fine margins

I think last night she went 4 0 but it couldve easily been 2. 2

Second set she prob played better but it was way closer

But whatever happens, she's a special talent

Aye

And mcenroe

I watched Mac live at the time. There was an intimation that she'd bottled it, but he didn't explain himself fully. His colleagues were a bit surprised but that's the way he is.

It is possible she did under the weight of expectation at the time, first time in the situation etc. Nothing really revealed since as far as I'm aware.

Hopefully, whatever the reason, she's put it behind her and got stronger.

And its flawed in each one of those places as well.

Middle class kids get in because their parents pay for private tutors.

Not all.

My daughter smashed the 11+ on her own merit and went to Grammar school as a result.
She smashed her GCSEs this year and has just started at another Grammar school for A-levels with the aim of getting to Oxbridge.

And I wouldn't class myself as middle class.

I'm afraid the majority are though and there is no major correlation betwee  areas doing better with grammar schools or without, just a bigger divide between haves and have nots.

I'm no fan of the system. State funded selection that benefits a minority whilst being paid for by everyone.
