Site Supporter Ratwhite Posted February 10, 2013 Site Supporter Share Posted February 10, 2013 Showed more goal threat in ten first half minutes (and six inches shorter) than ZK shown in three seasons. Centre halfs (traditionally) are/should be a "threat" at set pieces (see Cahill/Wheater). Anyway. He's got my vote. What about a Ream/Dawson combo? Mounts Kipper
Don't think ZK has scored a header for us and he's been here about 5 years, sums him up.
Mounts Kipper
He's also a local lad and that's what we need more of, he does look like a Banjo player though:) Edited February 10, 2013 by Mounts Kipper
onlyoneawalker
Although I'm in the sooner Zat knight is dropped the better camp I can see why he dropped ream and not knight two ball playing centre halves is risky untill we move up league
jules_darby
Dawson's headers in their box weren't really about him"winning" headers as he wasn't challenged; it was his movement and reading the ball that impressed for me I'm not sure he actually "connected" properly with any of them, but it bodes well

kent_white
I thought he was ok. No better than Knight yesterday who I thought had a good game, especially in the first half when he won two vital headers when he was sandwiched between two Burnley players who'd obviously been instructed to hassle him. Thought Dawson looked better midweek, but we'll see after a few more games....
Salford Trotter
I'd settle for a solid centre half right now, if the goals come as an extra then i'll happily take that as a bonus Edited February 11, 2013 by Salford Trotter
frank_spencer
Knight is similar to Titus Bramble in that he'll be a very solid centre half for the majority of the game but is liable to drop a massive bollock at any moment. Take his reckless lunge in the 1st half that he got booked for.
Members DazBob
Jamie carragher scored 3 goals in about 500 games Means fuck all But Carragher would run through a brick wall for his team. Knight laughs and jokes walking off the pitch when we lose.
Eddie
As long as he keeps wheater out, happy days As long as he keeps our best centre back out? I'm counting down the days for Wheater to come back, he's a premier league defender and therefore more than good enough for this league

ianofcleveleys
If he'd been fit all season we wouldn't be where we are. Not a world beater but would have adjusted to this league better than most. Saw a lot of Dawson at Rochdale over the season they got promoted then when theye had the one season where they did well in League 1. He got into double figures for goals in both of those seasons. Scored plenty of them with headers at set pieces but can shoot as well, has a bit of Cahill about him Edited February 10, 2013 by ianofrochdale
marple whites
Wheater and Dawson for me will be the way forward. Thought Dawson had a great game yesterday, thoroughly deserved man of the match.
gonzo
Not seen a player add this much solidarity and instantly sort a defence out since the introduction of Jon Newsome.

rochdale white
He's been very good, he keeps it simple, does the basics well and his goals are a bonus. I couldn't understand last night when we were leading that Knight went up for a set piece whilst he stayed back, surely Dawson has matched Knight's overall goal tally already? A lad I know has just backed him to be our top scorer at 50/1 with Paddy Power. Eagles is leading with 7 at the moment.

Members DazBob
scores goals yes, but is he a decent defender? not sure yet. i know he's really fuckin slow though. I'm not sure why we get so hung up on whether a defender has pace or not. If a defender's good enough then a lack of pace can be compensated for. John Terry has always been painfully slow but he's not had a bad career. A good defender should be able to read the game. That's why Gudni seemed to get better the older (and slower) he got. A bad defender is one who has to rely on his pace to get a last-ditch tackle in.
