Carlos Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 They've scored a shitload today against Tranmere, 0-5. Quote
Astley White Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Not a good performance but not alarm bells just yet. Diamond formation made us stronger in the middle of the park and DF obviously thinking of covering weaknesses of centre backs, but left us way too narrow. Simpson for example playing almost as a winger. Medo is class, Spearing covers every blade of grass, thought Ream did okay but main downfall today was lack of creativity/goal threat - we miss Eagles and Davies. QPR took their one good chance, Beckford and Davies should have finished their chances. Worried and got to be sorted soon. Quote
enzo gambaro Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 You're struggling if you claim we kept it well first half; we had 38% possession in that period Really? BBC has it 48-52 over the ninety. That's 58% possession for us second half? I'm not sure. Quote
hughmungus Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Saw nothing today, or in the previous games, to make me think we are in for a difficult season and will be nowhere near he top 6 at any point unless we get some confidence from somewhere. DF doesn't seem to know his team, albeit injuries haven't helped but we are not pushing teams enough and have to many players out of form. We need the scrappy win or a player coming in who will change he dynamic of the team ASAP. This is the poorest team I have seen since 2003, good players but a lack of a plan or a way of making other teams think. Quote

superkev Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 We need reinforcements this week. Maybe Eddie will get his chequebook out. Not panicking because we are clearly short on quality at the moment. We can't be calling for managers heads after a few games, that does nothing for me. Quote

Arnold Jackson Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 (edited) Dougie please please do not put our useless skipper up front ever again! Its bad enough he's woeful at the back, but with minutes left, the nice pass from Moritz out to the wing could have produced a good chance. What it did produce was one of my lowest points in 35+ years of watching the Whites! Edited August 24, 2013 by Arnold Jackson Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Ngog & Beckford were'nt up for the fight today if you play as narrow as we did they have to get down the channels & hold the ball up neither managed to do that . Hall should have been on for Beckford at halftime his direct running was the only way to get around their centrebacks Ream did well , but chungy & Mido interchanging did'nt work. The central question did the players let the tactical plan down or was it a naff tactical plan in the head of DF ? At the moment I'm going with the former , although it begs the question are these players good enough or motivated enough to get us out of a bad start ? Quote

What it did produce was one of my lowest points in 35+ years of watching the Whites! Really a mis hit cross your low point ? We were poor today buy ginger made no saves, green made two good ones, beckford should do better. They will piss the division and on another day we would have beat them. Most worrying thing was clint hill do our defence for pace. Quote
Horwich Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I thought we had alot of the ball in the 2nd half...so id go with those stats Quote
desperado Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I don't have an issue with the view that certain aspects and certain players weren't right today. But to conclude that that's it for the season and Dougie has got everything completely wrong is an over reaction. I will not drone on about the negative, there's enough of that pointed out already. On the positive and realistic side of things, he had to address the weak defensive spine and putting ream in front addressed this to a certain degree, and as pointed out earlier in the thread he knows this needs addressing before the window closes. I still think medo and spearing are great players in this league, beckford needs that goal to give him confidence. Full backs still settling in but look effective. I was worried that after the subs we would look really brittle and possibly concede more on the break but bogdan didn't have to make a save. It's been a rotten start, but against 3 of the best sides in this league IMO. I accept and acknowledge a lot of the negative stuff but lets not get too depressed yet. Quote
Arnold Jackson Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Really a mis hit cross your low point It wasn't the result or the manner of the defeat it's just I really have struggled to see what makes any of our managers pick a player with the worst ball control in the history of the game! Pushing him up front when we need a goal is beyond idiotic and completely depressed me even before he predictably did what everyone knew he would and waste our chance of a point Quote
GeorgeOghani'sIroningBoard Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Tierney will not be a footballer as long as he has a hole in his arse. Worst left back since Deakin. We need 4 or 5 players before the window closes. Quote
gonzo Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Like Enzo said,I really shouldn't be surprised at the mentalist reaction on here, but I am. It was just a shit game. The formation nearly, nearly came off. Only one decent bit of play was the difference between the two teams. The ream idea paid dividends in the first half and stopped Qpr from bombarding our weakest links, but he was shagged in the second half as he's not kicked a ball. The second half was just crap all round from both teams, stopped each other playing. Chungy had his most decent 60 minutes in a long time...that role would have been eagles job all day long if fit though. It was just a stuffy game that could have gone either way IMO. People seem to think, even after all this time, that we have a divine right to just turn up and rip teams apart. Dougie picked a team today to stop Qpr playing and it very nearly came off. If we had have gone gung ho with a 442 against that lot it would have been 0-3 easy. We simply havnt got the qaultiy to take a team like Qpr on head to head in attacking sense. As for the freedman out nonsense....not even worth writing about. Quote
jules_darby Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 The Gonzo seems to have forgotten that whilst the formation helped us defend down the middle it fucked our fullbacks over on and off the ball, left Medo and Spearing with nowhere to go forwards with the ball and helped nullify our attacking threat It was shite! Quote
Horwich Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 We dont have any money and Dougie doesnt like using the loan system. Worst BWFC team ive seen in 20yrs Quote
Rembrandt Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Giving it until the end of October, but the signs so far are poor. I don't think it's the choice of system or the missing players or the hoped-for cb/goalscorer any more. I think it's all about getting the players we have (who are way good enough for this division) to show the commitment & effort & teamwork to start getting goals and results. And talking of missing players, there's no point keep bemoaning the lack of MDavies & Holden. They're both out for months & months, and we've known that for a while. If we miss them that much, then we need replacements now. If we can't do that, then tough - the other players will have to work that much harder. Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 It was a 1-0 loss against a team that will talk this league. Yes, they had more possession. That was likely as we put out a team to stop them playing their game, which almost worked. Calm down FFS. With the players available today, I'm not sure we could have gotten a better result with any other combination. Quote

coppullwhite Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Ffs.. We lost 1-0 and dougie tried something different, and its the first time we've lost at home in the league since boxing day, some people embarrass themselves on here Quote
magic legs Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I don't know how folk can be so certain QPR will walk the league when we carried so little threat today. Quote
jules_darby Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 They really aren't / weren't that good and I don't think they'll walk the league on that showing This "we nearly did it" and accepting of a tepid 1-0 loss at home is puzzling. Nay, it's ridiculous Quote
