Not long ago these players were considered £100mil type footballers, nailed on England stars that would take the team a long way in Euros and World Cups: Rashford, Maddison, Grealish, Foden, Palmer, Alexander Arnold. And that's without adding Bellingham and Saka who are still in around the team but no longer regarded as undroppable or players that are going to be the difference makers, just part of the squad standard rather than stand out. It happens I suppose, there's no guarantee of maintaining early promise when loads of factors are at play. Quote

Its an England Nation team issue rather than domestic....as most of them players are still playing at the very highest level, winning trophies and competing. Quote
Zico Posted yesterday at 09:24 Posted yesterday at 09:24 don't like the owner but hope Forest beat Villa and go on to win the EL don't mind Emery and don't begrudge him winning another EL title but I don't like Villa fans, so fuck em Quote

Heard an even better one....Man City have now played at Wembley more that Spurs.....and Spurs spent a full season using it for home games!!! Quote

Not sure I agree, I think all of those players listed would have gone for something approaching £100mil at some point in the last 5 years, they would have walked into any Prem team (Maddison not quite £100mil but say over 50). I think only Bellingham and Saka are in that bracket now, their clubs all either stopped picking them automatically, or they did pick them but their form nosedived. Not just an England thing. I know Maddison was injured but I think he was getting rested a lot before that. Quote

Grealish won a treble and multiple titles being brilliant, he is just 30 year old now so not as good. Foden is still class and plays for the best team in the prem, and would walk into most teams. Pepe loves to rotate, and most players come in and out of form with him. Palmer is still young, and I would not judge him as Chelsea are a mess. Trent plays for the biggest club on the planet. Maddison - well...nobody ever thought he was a worldy, and has never been world class. Most still top top class players, and are performing right at the top. Quote

Yeah some valid points there, Rashford definitely made a great comeback at Barca, suppose I was mainly thinking of how he couldn't get a game at Man U, or England, compared to about 5 years ago. Doing well now. Foden - not sure if he's still class, no evidence of it in recent months either for England or City. Again, I'm comparing him with maybe 2 or 3 years ago, when he was undroppable, now he can't get a game, that was the only point I was making. Yes TAA plays for Real Madrid, as does Bellingham, course they're top players. I just got the impression their stars had fallen a bit from that elite level, if I'm wrong fair enough, just my take. Its not always about which team you're at, you still have to perform (Onana played for Man U for a few years😀) I look forward to Foden and Palmer getting back to their previous levels because I'd have built the England team around them a year or so ago and want to see that form again. Along with Grealish, all 3 need/needed to get away from Pep to be able to express themselves. Quote
gonzo Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago They reckon Fodens had some proper mental health stuff going on. Lad won PFA player of the season two seasons ago. He was unplayable. Mad to think him and Palmer probably won't even go to the World Cup. Quote

Whether it is just pressure of stepping up to be main man after KDB left then finding Cherki outplaying him or to do with his family who knows. Palmer needs to find a maid in his league like Declan Rice and get away from the Insta bimbos. Unless he’s trying to prove he’s mediocre enough to play for Yoonited. Quote
