Not been but hats off to the organisers, it’s a resounding success story for the town. Here’s hoping it can be the beginning of a much needed revival.

It’s become very dull constantly criticising the town I love. Would love it - LOVE IT - if it became the buzzing, exciting place of old once more.

Unfortunately it’ll need a lot more than a weekend of overpriced food and a few tribute bands. (I will be there again next year)

I know, but it’s a start.

Hope is the greatest of things.

It's really not the start to have two weekends of temporary events being the saving grace of the town centre

It's the size of manc city centre and has about 9 shops open. 5 of which are vapes

Lots of other things going on to give the town some hope. Have some faith.

On a more somber note, it was the last hurrah of summer today. The nights are drawing in and winter is just around the corner. Soon be Christmas and the markets to look forward to.😊

This year was the 18th Anniversary of the Bolton Food and Drink festival, so it's not likely to be the beginning of anything.

Things don’t happen overnight.

But to have an established event that draws big crowds every year is a positive.

The area around the town hall is stunning in terms of scale and architecture. I refuse to beleive that Bolton town centre cannot be revived and something to be proud of once again.

I just think it needs some innovative thinking, because it will never be like it was in its peak in terms of a shopping experience.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be an attraction in a different way.

retail won’t save it, that seems obvious. But as they say, build it and they will come.

It’s a shame the other big event, the Ironman, is no longer happening.

Because we aren’t a Muslim country.

Many of the people celebrating Eid these days are as British as you or me. Eid becoming more popular doesn’t mean we’re becoming a Muslim country.

Paranoia like this makes you sound like some one in a Louis Theroux documentary.

I don’t follow any religion it’s silly, Muslim religion is probably the silliest, I’d prefer none really but we’ve fucked up and added one that’ll has changed our country forever.. not for the better in my opinion. And who said they weren’t British… although most support Pakistan at cricket, born here makes them British… they don’t want to go back though for some reason.

Bolty supports Australia, so he’s assimilated “correctly”. I bet you support Spain when you’re living there too, and don’t join in with those bawdy English thugs down in the bars on the front.

As for religion, Christianity originated in Palestine. So it’s hardly a British invention.

Nobody is asking you to convert and start going to your local Mosque. What is it they're doing that affects your life so much that you think they're "ruining our country forever"?

Without wanting to add to this silly argument, what on earth do you know about Islam?

You are aware that whilst our ancestors were still in huts and flinging mud at raiders from Germany and Denmark, Islamic nations had ensured they were the next empire in Europe and light years ahead in their culture. To dismiss any cultural religion is silly.

Also the diaspora from Pakistan came over at our request to help rebuild the country, and if you knew your history our hand in partition means yes we should be accepting of families from both India and Pakistan.

Duality of upbringing happens in all cultures, supporting the team of your mum and dad in whatever sport happens across the board and should be welcomed. Apart from Rod Stewart 😁
