We were heading for a Brave New World type hell where everyone had to follow the mantra without question and thinking for ones self either prohibited or medicated against. You can already see how far this has gone with an NUT brainwashed majority physically unable to see or accept any other viewpoint. The new puritans. They live amongst us on here. Popular Post Not in Crawley Posted May 6, 2025 Popular Post Posted May 6, 2025 A disruptor is only a successful if they change the existing paradigm permanently into an agreed new way of doing things. What it isnt is being monumentally crap at your job, trying to dial a clock backwards to the 50s and just focus on any brain fart that takes your fancy for 24 hours. That's just a regressive moron. Yeah, can't wait until we can get back to calling people derogatory names, crowbar back inherent workplace sexism and allow free speech actually means 'saying whatever I bloody well want, so there' Let's make a meritocracy based on Boltys idea where, all views are valid, but mine and my ilk more so. The irony is eye scratchingly obvious to anyone with half a braincell. Quote

Now it’s all to do with people not liking a bit of cultural difference. Quote

Our friend has applied a 100% tariff on films made outside the US and has employed Sylvester Stallone as a special envoy. He's done this as an executive order using emergency powers as he thinks it's a national security threat or something? And he's reopening Alcatraz. Can’t wait for Dunkirk being re made in the Florida Keys. Quote

It's no longer about hip pocket nerves apparently, it's all about a great re-set, that will change the world forever...... ....to be fair, I think Trump could change the world forever, as the US could easily become a shadow of its former self by the time he leaves office, unless he's reigned in Quote
bolty58 Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 It gets tiresome. He's doing the challenging stuff early in his term. Like Labour have tried to do in shitting on pensioners. Got to love those socialist principles. Start taking about hip pocket nerves half way through his term. Then watch what happens in 2028 and which way the approval ratings go. The impatience of youth. Twas ever so. I'm waiting for his attention to turn to vengeance against his persecutors. Much enjoyment yet to come. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 Don't see what the problem is with Alcatraz idea. If they need more prison space, why not? Got to go somewhere. Quote

Got to go somewhere. Alcatraz is tiny. I was just reading that while it was open it had 336 cells. Given the amount of overcrowding in US prisons - it's an irrelevance. It's the symbolism that's important to DT. If he'd announced a review into overcrowding in US prisons - that would have made sense. But this plan is just an ego stroke. Quote

They must make a fortune off visitors to Alcatraz Island? Mind you - maybe prison populations won't be a problem once if ship everyone off to Rwanda. Quote

It'd just be quicker and cheaper to build something new. I'd be very surprised if it was ever made into a functioning prison again Also, it's a major tourist attraction (apparently over 1M people per year visit it), so all that tourism money would be lost, so I'm not sure the good people of San Francisco would be up for it either Quote

The cells are also no longer "regulation" size apparently, not that it'd bother me if criminals have to live in a cell that's too small, but I'm sure somebody would have something to say about it. Equally, it helps with security. He may argue the savings on immigration costs would pay for it, but ultimately, that's a decision for the relevant department. If it has been "developed" previously, then it's a brown field site- which may go down well with his opponents! I suppose it's similar to using a prison ship. Quote
