The loss of Baxter, Santos, Dempsey and Charles cost us promotion last term for sure.

All history now, let’s see how we go this season.

Before he signed for us, according to wiki, he was a winger, now hes purely a "footballer" The Evatt effect!  Is their anyone apart from Cheese expecting automatic promotion? Serious question!

Yes

How on earth can you possibly make such a dramatic judgement on players when you've admittedly seen very little of them?

Especially when that very little equates to a bit of a run out in pre season and a collection of clips on a YouTube reel.

We won't know anything till a few games in. Then we will know if they've been an upgrade or not.

It’s not a dramatic judgement gonzo just an opinion on what I’ve seen so far. 🤷‍♂️

You’re the expert on making themselves look like a complete dick, so I reckon that’s a compliment to the usual wankers. x

Looks like you are having some success in making this place more closely resemble your natural habitat of the BN comments section.

Well done Sir 👏

Success would be making this place more like a forum for opinions rather than a comedy show.

If we’re setting up in the rumoured 3-4-3 formation, that’s only two centre midfielders.

The bigger wish for me is a right winger. Cogley is a right back, who’s been playing RWB. Hence, the inability to go past a man and deliver quality into the box.

3-4-3 requires a winger who can track back, as we’ve just signed for the left.

Reet,  who's next to convince us ?

Where's bellsy and mountys lad ?

I’m right here, but on holiday, so got other priorities!

Didn’t know anything about this signing at all. As I’ve said before, I get bits from secondary sources and do expect one, possibly two, in next week from what I’ve been told. But this one took me by surprise.

All I would add. I don’t quite get the dislike of Williams. He’s a league one player for a reason but (when fit) is a good player for us.

And I don’t understand at all posters who seem to assume the worst before they’ve seen someone play, or think they know a players role in the squad before a ball has been kicked. If last season taught us anything (and the rushed January recruitment) it’s that the squad needs more depth. Those injuries to Santos, Baxter, Charles killed us. Southwood, Forino, returning Johnstone, make us so much stronger already.

I’m not a happy clapper, and I won’t claim we’ll go up this season, but we’ll be top 3 or 4 again. Just a question of whether we can take that last step. I reckon most of s could predict 4 or 5 of the top 6 accurately right now. I’m not convinced Birmingham will be the force some think, but let’s see.

Williams is the biggest shithouse I’ve seen play for BWFC. Crack on for your top knot and pink boots but pull out of some of the basic challenges I’ve seen him do and he can fuck right off

He's also scored some vital late goals

I don't get the grief Williams gets. He's a pacy, exciting, creative player. A bit injury prone mind.

Wow, did you not go to the Wigan nightmare at home?

I will never forgive him for the way that he pulled out of a tackle right in front of me, absolute disgrace and can’t defend for toffee.

He’s weak as piss and his strength is supposed to be in opposition half…but he’s piss poor on the attacking front. Shite!

I did, much as I'd like to forget it. Christ, you could have sacked Evatt and the whole side off after that one game. Over the season though, when fit, he's an asset imo

Not a chance 8 injured 5 replaced ....Would any of the 5 get in if we play our strongest team

Not convinced at all with this Hungarian

I’ll give you this, you’re fucking consistent.

I am damaged by the Wembley performance and, tbh, the whole second half of the season was shoddy. I fear that too many teams will have worked us out and if Evatt has not learnt that lesson we could be in big trouble & it wouldn't take a lot to see the fans turn on him.

But, all that said, we've lost Maghoma, who I rate highly, & Jon-Dadi a capable reserve striker. Added 5 & more to come & the loan market so far untouched.

... & with all that we still finished a disappointing 3rd.

So no reason we should be outside the top 6.

If, however, we resume the interminable passing along the backline bollox again I may have to take to the pitch.

Aren't the wingers ment to be in the top of the 343?

The 343 will be more like a 523 with 2 wingbacks.

If we're using this formation we're swapping a CM & CF for two wingers?

Nothing in the preseason to suggest there will be a lot of that - although if the opposition sits deep and won't come out to play it's difficult to do anything else other than wait until there's a forward pass on. But the 3421 should provide more forward passing options if there is more movement so maybe it will be kept to a minimum.

New system suggests we will be risking more on attacking in numbers which will make for more exciting games - and more nerve jangling when the opposition goes long down the sides and over the back line to capitalise on the spaces we leave.

I like the "we'll score more goals than you" approach.

BTW I don't think Schon offers any more than Williams defensively. We'll see.
