We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

I can't help feeling that we would be looking to loan out a striker if he came in.

Only Dan…

Dan Nlundulu a "striker" 8 goals in 89 apps in League one
Eoin Toal a "centre back" 7 goals in 62 apps in League one

Not slandering him, it's just facts. If we want to go up we'll need a more impactful attacker than him coming on & alternating up top when the schedule gets hectic.

.. & 25½ now. Not a promising 19yr old.

I'll never understand the decision.

I'll never understand it either, but for a bit of balance, he only started 3 games last season.  There's a reason for that, but its a bit unfair to quote 89 L1 appearances compared to Toal's 62 when we know who spent more time on the pitch over the last couple of seasons.

The effectiveness of a striker is never just measured in stats (eg JDB/CJ) but its hard to make a case for Dan being a L1 footballer now or any time in his career.

Something in Dan I like ...  pace, power and a bit of trickery  ... Would love to see him on the wing for us.

Hoping this season he'll show his potential 🤞🏻

Never know he might do a Drogba and go from zero to hero.

He obviously has decent physicality, so I'm guessing the club thought they could train some touch and finishing ability into him at the time.

TBF to Dan, his touch and control has improved but for the life of me I've never thought it is ever possible to train attacking flair and goal instinct into someone. The runs to make, when to make them, anticipation, when and how to shoot - finishing ability is an animal thing and you've either got it or you haven't. Sadly, Dan hasn't. But he's definitely worked on improving his hold up and link up play, bless him.

According iles IE targeting 4 new signings so we have the strongest squad we have ever had whilst he as been in charge.

"Three possibly four" before the window closes which is brilliant news. We know of three targets already announced and we can probably expect a loanee or maybe two so it all sounds promising even if we don't get all our primary targets.

No word on outgoings though - I guess they can be done fairly quickly if we, in turn, loan a few more out so I suppose we're waiting on what comes through the door first. Positive news though.

Have we room in our squad for 3/4.........Some will have to go out i presume.

If some are under 21 than yeah

Matheson, Khumbeni and Conway will go out on loan, the first two may even be sold for small fees.

If we add to midfield, Morley will go, can also see Jones going to somewhere like Wrexham if we bring in another RWB.  Coleman will presumably go as well.  After that Williams and Iredale most vulnerable if we add another LWB.

Still plenty of opportunity to improve the squad in terms of quality, before you get to our core assets.

Lets hope for some proper quality coming in .

I don't disagree, but he's always going to be down the pecking order, unless we have a number of injured strikers.

Should another come in then that's him not necessarily making the bench.

I'd be happy for all 3 to be given opportunities in cups and on the bench.

I think Matheson perhaps has more energy than Jones and would be decent as back up to D-C.

Conway showing he's ready to be back up, but may go on loan. Evatt intimated as such previously, and now he has his main man.

As long as Nlundulu is a rotation player and not a starter then it's fine. The Ivan Toney comparison from Evatt didn't help him, other than the Bristol rovers goal, hes done nothing.

He had that 3 game flurry (Exeter, Harrogate & JPT game) where he bagged 5 goals(?) then got injured having to take that blasted penalty again.  He may have kicked on after that spell if he'd not knackered himself, who knows? Can't see it happening for him now though, sadly.

I’ve heard whispers of a Fossey return

If we sign Macatee can definitely see a forward going

From Standard Leige ?

I don't wish to be negative but that'd be quite a step down (currently, obvs).

I'd enjoy that mind.

Why do you find it necessary to be an aggressive little runt?

Why on earth would Fossey be coming back here?
