No idea where Neslon town centre is. How many Muslim women do you see dressed like that?

In burkas?

Fucking loads.

Blackpool prom in the midweek you see loads. I work in Blackburn, Preston, Nelson etc. You see loads up and down the high street.

It looks fucking awful.

There was a large family at haven the other month too. Mum's in the pool with a bin bag on.

It was big enough of a concern in other countries to get banned.

Again you dispel stuff like this as reform crank stuff.

The same reform who are up on the tracks now as the main opposition.

Stuff like this is an issue for people, same as the boats same ad anything that swings votes.

It's an issue whether you think it is or not.

Ok well are you prepared to more council tax to enforce it?

Dear god.

You really aren't comfortable with people having opinions that differ from yours are you. Anything that doesn't follow Guardianista thought patterns and you are in shock that such people could ever exist.

There's a new phrase. It came originally from an anti-woke Labour peer called Lord Glasman. He describes the "lanyard classes". Essentially preening elitists who grab hold of any and every opportunity to parade their moral superiority to the grubby masses. Those folk are rife inside the public sector I'm afraid.

Maybe Lord Glasman's thoughts will take hold within the Labour party and it will genuinely become a party that properly represents working people again. Maybe other parties will follow suit. Be quite some turnaround if it did. And folk with your wokey view of the world would be left high and dry.

Ah. So it's about how it "looks". How do you know they're not Nuns?

And in what way have they made your life worse?

Not a problem with opinions but you have just introduced a whole load more complicated issues on councils operations and management which was not what we were discussing. Just on the issue of masks, I’m not in favour as it will mean higher bills and we have bigger issues of concern IMO.

So that means you do just want to target Muslim women in particular? Which is the opposite of what I thought you were saying the other day (which I agreed with). IE - that it would have to apply to everyone across the board (like chavs wearing face coverings for example). Apologies if that wasn't you btw. I had it in my head that it was.

Like I said - of someone can come up with a workable idea - that applies to everybody mostly equally then I would consider it on its merits. If it's just targeting Muslim women - I think it's more problematic.

And I take your point about it possibly being used as a tool of oppression - but I'd need to do a lot more reading about what the evidence says about why Muslim women in the UK say they wear a Burka. I imagine there are a sizeable number who wear one out of choice.

We'd be talking about socially engineering them away from having that choice in this instance.

The conversation is about Burkas.

Yes I'd 100% ban balaclavas too. Road men and those scruffs supporting Palestine etc.

I already thought they were tbh. Especially in shops.

But bringing fancy dress and silly things like that into is just, well, silly.

The reasons for banning one lot are different to the other.

I'd ban these roadmen whoppers because they cause grief and hide their faces to commit crimes.

I'd ban the Burka for reason Ive already said.

Stag dos are fine :)

Well fine. I would rather we focussed on bigger issues.

Which is fair enough. But it's just a discussion isn't it.

I'd not argue in favour of a burqa ban, but if someone - whoever they are - wears one each and every time they're in public it's a literal barrier to integrating into and participating fully in society

How is it a "literal barrier"? Are you deaf, therefore you need to lip read? Do you speak to every single person you meet when you're out and about?

What if Muslim women start wearing gorilla masks to hide their faces?

I'm not answering the first question as it's just fucking ridiculous.

The 2nd. I've told you, I just don't like them and I'm not alone, clearly.

Not that I have to explain everything to you.

What are you mentioning Gorilla's?

That's clearly racist.

Of course. It just surprises me when there is an epidemic of shoplifting, house break ins, anti social behaviour and other similar crimes which are being very poorly controlled in our cities.

I wonder if any of those committing the crimes wore face coverings

So they should be banned because you "just don't like them", and lots of other people don't like them either. Fuck me. 😁 I don't like men wearing shorts, so GET THEM BANNED. I don't like any public religious displays, so ban Kippahs, ban Crucifixes, ban Turbans, etc.

I've mentioned above why I don't like them.

Why don't you ask France and Denmark why they chose to ban them?

I've already said, they are oppressive, they are divisional, they make them even more secular than they already are and like I've said they just look fucking ridiculous.

If we had monks bowling about with their women covered with their eyes showing I'd say the same too.

There's a whole host of other religious practices I'd ban too and probably before the Burkahs.

Can you not handle anyone with thoughts different to you?
