He’s not I don't know the figures behind it, maybe millions is an exaggeration, but that's what he would have been referring to as it was a manifesto pledge But it's better than nothing Quote
BobyBrno Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Not till September this year. Thats over two years the poor children have been starving since they came in. Year 1 and 2 have been getting them since 2014 in state schools. I think that was a Tory government that introduced it. I think that’s correct. Please check, I’m out and about.👍 Quote

So of all his manifesto pledges, including the ridiculous ones like “smash the gangs” you would think this would be one of the easiest. What’s stopping them feeding these starving kids? Quote

Lt. Aldo Raine Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I'm not sure Streeting beats Starmer in a leadership challenge Quote

No such thing, especially when it comes to starving kids…..British starving kids. Let’s just put it down to another broken promise/lie call it what you want. Quote

Jol_BWFC Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Streeting probably knows that it’s now or never. He can’t afford to wait and allow Burnham to become an MP. Quote

What’s stopping them feeding these starving kids? When they discussed launching the breakfast clubs different local authorities , teachers groups etc had different opinions on the best way to do it. So they set up 500 early adopter schools as a result of trying various options the next 750 schools were bought on line with the rest planned by March next year. I think at the time some people thought the 500 was all they were doing !!! They have prioritised schools with the highest % of free lunches so the poorest schools are being done. So it is all on schedule to be delivered as promised. I posted earlier in the thread that the Labour Party are making a dogs dinner (ironic !) of governing but this one thing they have got right. Ideally bought in quicker but the local authorities and teachers groups all supported a staggered roll out and getting it right rather than blowing it. There were plenty of people arguing against the schemes as it is ‘the parents job to feed their kids, why should I fund it’ and ‘ when I was a kid my mum and dad always gave us a breakfast and we did not have 2 buttons to rub together.’ Quote

Madness to think I want to be PM, I know I am not best person for the job but maybe I can sneak in. You must have to have a big enough ego to become an MP but to think you are the one to run the country must be of the scale ego or confidence. Streeting reminds of one of those footballers who like Will Hughes have about 8 years in the Premier League but are never outstanding. He was best mates with Peter Mandelson too Quote

That will be 2 and half years since they’ve been in power. There’s no way these starving kids are going to last that long. A quick look and AI and Google says it’s highly unlikely to be done in the said time frame. Quote

It is about 1250 , is nt it ? Every report I have seen says it is on schedule. Edited May 13 by Ani Quote

Sorry, not quite the end of the year. September. From Chat GPT If you compare the current rollout to the total number of primary schools in England: About 1,250 schools currently have free breakfast clubs. England has roughly 16,700 primary schools. So the programme currently covers about 7–8% of primary schools in England. If it reaches the planned 2,000 schools by September 2026, that would be roughly 12% coverage. Quote

But a lot of the same people criticising that it's not being rolled out fast enough will applaud when Farage scraps it altogether. Proper double-think. Quote
