He’s just been voted out of office for being untrustworthy and unreliable hasn’t he, or did you miss that? Despite that he’s still far superior in intellect, charisma and statesmanship than any of the possible replacements. I’ll tell you this for what it’s worth, if he stood in the final against the two that make it he’d walk it back into No10. As far as your silly populism dig is concerned, at least some of us have a brain.

Intellect - He knows some Latin phrases

Charisma - He’s eccentric

Statesmanship - lies to absolutely fucking everyone.

Stop. Reading. The. Daily. Mail.

Based on todays newspaper headlines it would seem the Conservative hierarchy are worried that PM might win.

Who would have thought that a candidate who is a bit of an outsider who all of a sudden be turned on by the press ? Almost as though they want to decide who should win.

The dirty tricks were entirely predictable. It was only a matter of time and the media plays a part searching for anything at all which could negatively affect a 'tall poppy'. Nothing to see here - it would be no different if (God forbid) the red rags were in power and had the same situation to deal with. The sinister elements within their paymasters the Unions would be engaging in premier league level skulduggery in the background.

If she reaches the final two, it is all over which is why so much effort is being put into promoting Truss as the second option to Sunak.

They need to think more clearly. Without Penny Mordaunt as leader, they will almost certainly lose the next General Election. With her at the top, I believe they will very likely win it.

I’m getting a bit worried

Clearly her face doesn’t fit with the more shadowy, powerful influencers.

That should actually be a sign that she’s definitely the type of leader we want.

Shes a few billion behind Sunak, which won’t help, and Truss is the choice of the Johnson cabal, which is still very influential.

If she can win this, I’d be surprised now.

The party will not unite behind her, as much as she is a 'clean-ish' pair of hands she is a lightweight with no policies and no track record.

The tide has turn on the Tories, and the Tories are turning on themselves. Whilst Starmer is out in Germany meeting with the Chancellor today, looking to see how we really fuction post Brexit the Tories are engaged in another round of infighting between the One Nationers and The ERG-hardliners.

Labour have already set up a comission into how we work with increasing powers to the regions (including Nations) to really effect change - the Tories just try and ignore it and bather on about trying to level up and effecting no change whatsoever.

The simple fact is the opposition is, and has been for some time, the only party behaving like they are in power and ready to do things for the UK rather than the endless Love Isalnd-esque dramas of a puddle Conservative Party.

The clock is ticking...

Been listening to The Rest is Politics podcasts (highly recommend btw) recently and I did think of birch when Alistair Campbell made this point. Singapore's cabinet ministers (if ever a nation punched above its weight) earn over a million dollars pa.

This is mental logic. A theoretical "God forbid Labour were in power, as their paymasters would be trying to influence their Leadership".... meanwhile, exactly that is literally happening to the Conservative Party as we speak, and it's "Nothing to see here".

The other bullshit Boris apologists are spinning is that he got brexit done. There are gullible folk out there who actually believe this despite no actual solution to NI, no oven ready deal, no suitable arrangements to help small businesses, no timely way for farmers and fisheries to get their products into EU markets and no way yet to replace lost labour. It has been a fiasco yet some still trot out the “he got brexit done”. Thickos🇬🇧

Of course we are. Just like the sun never came up again after Brexit. Some folk live in cloud cuckoo (boy) land.

It's Bolty, there is no logic, just sheer (plentiful) gut feelings and trifle.

What a strange response, if you support PM I would thought you would have been annoyed by the fact that press are turning on her as it is clear the puppet masters want Truss in, it will get down to two and the guns will turn on Rishi. What happened to the defenders of democracy ?

Instead let's paint a picture of it might be like if Labour were in power and blame them. The Tory party surely does not want to draw attention to 'sinister paymasters' eh ? Boris ?

Do not forget he also saw us through the pandemic.
About 5% of people still have it, he sent people back into care homes who were infected and gave PPE to anyone on his friends  and family tarrif . The fast track process was deemed unlawful.

The furlough scheme was good but lack of controls means it cost £bns in fraud. Track and Trace was hardly world leading other than in cost.

For balance bought a lot of vaccines and once the politicians left it to the Army and NHS it was delivered excellently. As top man he gets credit for that, if nothing else let the right people do the job.

She’s not being turned on by the press Ani, they’re just revealing some of the realities about her. If she really is lazy and not in the detail as Lord Frost and others have said, we don’t want to replace BoJo with a female copycat. She has written a book full of gay support, her brother is an active gay rights supporter and just as Carrie influenced Boris, she’s been influenced by him. She did claim trans women were women and she did try to remove the word mother on the bill she worked on and replace with pregnant “person.” Bill Gates did write the forward in her book and she is full on with net zero.

Now there’s nothing wrong with being any of those things but she’s tried to deny some of them and laugh away others but they are all truths and indicate the liberal and left leaning beliefs she clearly holds. If the Tory members aren’t made aware of the beliefs of all the candidates before a vote is taken, then it’s no good finding out afterwards when it’s too late.

Some business fella on the radio yesterday was saying Truss is a disaster at everything she does. He said her trade deals are appalling and we have had to concede really important fine details on the protection of companies to currency fluctuations, insolvency, etc. He said the one signed with Australia is shambolic and in time will decimate our farming industry.

Ah well.

Liz Truss campaigned for Remain.
