The words at the bottom translate as "Happy Flower Soldiers" In Havana I found a 1970s kiddies' comic on a street market stall - it was "The Adventures of Che" (Guevara as a child) Unbelieveable Jeff. Cambodia's cool (apart from the Killing Fields which really depressed me) but I like Vietnam better - my nephew lives and works in Hanoi teaching English - the people are great, the country is beautiful, food is tasty and it's the only place in SE Asia with decent beer (rather than pissy lager) - a legacy of the Americans and Aussies who stayed after the war. Laos and particularly Luang Prabang is brilliant - but it's close to China and the Chinese are building a railway so it will be rammed with rich Chinese tourists soon. But the French colonial architecture and it's situation on the Mekong gives it a vibe of New Orleans in the jungle.

Who cares what economists say, we knew we'd be much worse off for a decade or two once we left but it's worth it for our sovereignty. Your avatar suggests you're into the Middle Ages and/or the Crusades where the Christian Europeans had their ass handed to them by the Muslims, the final humiliation being the fall of Acre in 1291 - which was ultimately a good thing for Europeans as it ended 200 years of poverty and massive taxation to pay for a pointless war. So are you supporting 1) Saint George - the Turk? 2) Christian religious fanatics oppressing ordinary people? or 3) Muslims whupping Christians? My avatar is North Vietnamese artwork celebrating the end of French colonialism and the defeat of the Americans - although the reason I like it is because - it's artwork. That said I do like the way that some communist countries present their version of history and would strongly recommend a visit to the Museum of the Revolution in Havana - it's brilliant. My favourite bit was the rusty tractor with two steel plates welded on the side and a plaque outlining how it defeated the American tanks. Hilarious. Totally off beam as usual. From memory that avatar became available to me in relation to the England Rugby World Cup campaign of 2003. If you're not a commie then I'm a vegan drag queen from Bolsover. I don't want to see a situation where you tick the wrong box in foolish haste. The Submarine deal is part of the AUKUS security deal and is about countering China's influence in the Pacific. It hasn't directly got anything to do with the Australian trade deal, nor Brexit. In fact, France was in the running for the deal as well. Indirectly, it has been useful for the UK because without the EU we need closer global relationships, but critics do say its dragging us into issues far from our shores when there is a war in Europe and problems directly on our doorstep. The Post Brexit trade deal is great for those of us who like Manuka Honey though. 🍯 https://www.great.gov.uk/markets/australia/uk-australia-free-trade-agreement-guidance/

Still, it’s a deal that adds around 0.001% to gdp. 👍 Wont hold my breath for a surge in Aussie cash hitting the rest of the economy. I’s mention an EU and US trade deal but I know you’ll waffle on about not needing them. Whilst doublethinking a joyous riposte about a deal with Nepal for new rugs.
