Rishi said he’d stop them though.

Can you explain why he hasn’t succeeded?

Yes it’s you, the Rwanda policy hasn’t been allowed to start as it’s not been passed.

Then maybe stop claiming it as a deterrent.

The thing is, it never will be a deterrent, anybody who thinks that somebody who has trekked across Europe, and then crossed the English Channel on a small inflatable is goingg to be put off by the very slim chance that they may eventually get shipped out to Rwanda is a mentalist

To those who think it's a good idea (if anybody here thinks it is) and that it would act as a deterrent, do you think had the bill passed last year, that the numbers attempting to cross would actually be reduced from what we're seeing at the minute?

There are many people to loathe in this government but that fact someone so utterly incapable and dim-witted as Gullis can force himself into any sort of office just shows what lack of talent there is from the wing of the party that has taken over and we're now beyond dog days.

I'd just call the election as soon as I could now, it can't be much fun just getting pillored everyday and in the vain hope that the next quarter might look a smidge less despressing.

They know they're going to get a proper good hiding, so are holding on to their seat/salaries as long as possible I'd imagine

But they get to meet all the 007 agents and know national secrets. Like a real life movie.

Worth hanging around for in my opinion.

Plus, if the migrants consider Rwanda a better option than where they're coming from, it's not a deterrent

Isn't the deal that we can send only 300 or summat?

If you're a people smuggler, wait till news gets around that 300 have gone, if they ever do, then its business as usual

I'm not sure, I've heard that mentioned, but I'd like to think it's not true, otherwise, as mickbrown says above, it really is designed to appeal to fucking idiots

Wait till they find out some will be coming here from Rwanda! 🤯

The memorandum of understanding for the agreement does say the UK will resettle “a portion” of Rwanda’s most vulnerable refugees, but does not say how many.

I knew that bit

Also, if they commit any crimes in Rwanda, then they get deported back the UK, which is nice.

The Rwandan government must be absolutely pissing their sides, they're already £250M up on the deal
