Shes on oxygen now just to move around having spent 3 weeks in hospital with the virus. Girl who works for me has asthma and caught it; she was in for 2 days on oxygen as she was short of breath. Was fine a week later so lucky. Quote

We’re all guessing to some extent, but I suspect we will get very close to that number even with various impending levels of lockdown. Looking at the numbers again I think we will finish up on circa 90k with likely restrictions over the coming weeks. Add say 30k on if they let it go and banged us all in tier 1 from now on All depends on how fast they roll out the vaccine really, if 15m were vaccinated this week then the deaths would grind to a halt and we would finish on little over 70k deaths, granted that’s not happening this week Get the first 5m done and you can expect half the deaths as the most vulnerable carry a bigger share of the risk They normally vaccinate 5m a month for Winter flu (1 dose), throwing the kitchen sink at it they should be able to mobilise to get at least 5m people done in January (both doses) Quote
royal white Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 For the in the know type people on here what do you make to these figures? Are they the kind of percentages expected from other vaccines? Quote

Of course they do Less so than working age people, who in turn matter less than kids That’s according to the Department of Health’s usually cost / benefit analysis , when it comes to deciding where to invest their budget (in a normal year) Edited December 22, 2020 by birch-chorley Quote

Spider Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 I saw a tweet earlier (and can’t fucking find it now) that suggested the mutated variant is possibly weaker in terms of severity of illness and suggest the virus may be mutating itself out of danger eventually. Quite common apparently. lets fucking we’ll hope so Quote

Less severe viruses are less severe so multiple quicker as the host is out an about spreading it Quote

wiggy Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 https://twitter.com/cricketwyvern/status/1340644282273828865?s=20 Thought this tweet was interesting. A while back this guy was being regularly cited by critics of lockdown. He was supposed to have been using scientific evidence to support his and their criticism of lockdowns. This tweet shows he actually has an inherent bias against them. Not trying to use this as a way of criticising him or others but I think it shows how difficult it is for people not to allow their personal beliefs to influence what they are saying - however impartial they valid to be.
