If that’s the case (and it also reads that way from the gov.uk release), then Boris has made a right mess of that announcement. You’ve got businesses messaging staff saying they’re closing down for 3 weeks when that isn’t the intention of the restrictions.

The announcement was clear

Why some thick as fuck fuckers couldnt understand it is on them, not bozo

Shit rules but clear, imo

I don’t think it was, given that the wording of his announcement has been changed in the wording of the gov.uk press release and also given Burnham had to call 10 Downing St for clarity.

I agree to an extent i.e. regarding clarity before making a decision, but business owners and staff shouldn’t be sat here tonight awaiting clarity. It should have been crystal clear from the outset, given that these restrictions come into effect today and are subject to police enforcement.

And it shouldnt have been announced at half past 8 for immediate effect

Thered have been folk travelling for a night shift, but once again, the folk making decisions are completely ignorant of the real world

Announce it at dinner time today, or effective from cob tomorrow

It was clear

What was said mattered to me, bogs and spider

So we listened carefully and all heard the same

The media and govt twitter put out something other than what he said

Anyway, we shouldve been shut down

Going off social media no one has a clue and it seems like the majority of my mates will be cracking on with work.

not much seems to have changed

If it keeps all the mongaloids from thinking it's a nice sunny day so we'll go to Blackpool then it's worthwhile.

Yes, BoJo needs to clarify a lot, but it's a start. Hopefully he'll clear up the rest tomorrow.

I think that’s exactly what this latest announcement intended on doing. (Or Rivvy or Snowdon etc).

I interpreted it as anyone can go to work unless you can WFH.

On another note, my manager has told me today that she will be working extra hours for free (social care). I’ve said I’m happy to work extra hours but would expect paying for them. What’s folks thoughts on this. As it stands we’ve said we’ll agree to disagree. She has said it is because she is in a position to do so as kids are grown up and nothing else to do as everything is shut. I get that, and I’m in a similar position but I’m not doing it for free. Am I being a cunt, or is it mercenary to expect overtime in current situation, (overtime is payed as normal rate)

Combine exercise with shopping. Run/jog to the shops. Fill up a rucksack with essentials. Walk back (with the added weight). Reduces your carbon footprint. Saves money on petrol.
Great time to clear your mind.
Winner. Winner.

OR if you want to drive to a park - do your exercise. Then head home via the supermarket. One round trip journey for your shop/exercise.

Just my thoughts.

If your manager doesn't want you to work for pay will she negotiate to working for extra time off?

A bit of goodwill now may play dividends in the future.

Gove made a fucking mess of that interview - Ambiguous, vague, unclear and at times at odds with what BJ stated when announcing the latest measures. Still unclear who can go to work & who can’t.

He was clear

But folk didn't listen

Now it's as clear as mud

There's still folk on media saying he said things that he didn't

Gove in his interview on GMB clearly stated that children from split families should stay with the parent they are with now. Ten minutes later in his BBC interview he clearly stated that children under 18 from a broken family can see both parents. The goalposts are constantly being moved - it’s a fucking shambles.

Aye. It’s a joke. 24 hours ago, Boris bristled at the suggestion of police enforcement. Now it’s key to the message. The tone and messaging have been shocking.

Constructive suggestion...make announcements at midday...bring clear written unambiguous text along that is published simultaneously. The text and announcement should be entirely the same. The tone last night for the first time was fine, but it’s useless announcing stuff like that in the evening and then contradicting your own advice.
