It was insane. Especially at Manchester. The British Airways Hangar at Manchester had the lowest cost base of any of the Maintenance facilities, but they decided to close it anyway. It was all political of course as they had to protect Heathrow. At the time I was lucky because I worked on the Line Maintenance and they had created a points system to decide who stayed and who had to leave. I had enough points because I had spent 5 years at Heathrow so had done Courses on more Aircraft types than other people, but I stuck it out only until June 2002 and left with a payoff, which meant someone else got to stay. I went straight in to a job in Düsseldorf and within 6 months of that I had transfered to Munich. Best decission I ever made to be honest.

El Macho on Portland St. Superb place

That's the badger! Used to have some great nights there then on to Fab Café and Temple bar.

Massively out of touch with Manchester now but Phetpailin in China Town probably my favourite place there at the moment.
