The data comes from here www.coronavirus.data.gov.uk/cases

If you look at the cases by specimen date, you can see that there's no data for today, 19 cases yesterday, 474 on the 8th and so on. It's about 4.5 days behind apparently. Must be down to delays in lab processing / reporting and such like

As most people take up to 5 days to show symptoms, and some get postal tests which adds a few days more on, the actual daily infected number is a likely to be over a week behind what we are seeing in the report

Makes sense.

Lockdown measures likely to take a few days to start to show any benefits then.

Boris thinking of introducing 10pm curfew nationwide? Where do I go to get fitted for my tag?

So the problem in winter months is people spending more time inside.

The solution.......a curfew ??

Mettings outside banned in Bolton - but spectators allowed at grass roots footy matches as long as they are in groups of six, to be monitord by each clubs designated Covid officer - haha  Grass roots footy matches might be busy this weekend - if you're going, look out for covid wardens!

Out of interest, what does "grass roots football" cover? - is it just kids teams, or would it include Saturday/Sunday league stuff?

Grass roots is kids

There are all sorts of crowd management rules for specators and clubs down to level 6 of the National League system, which is North west counties league 1  around here, teams like Atherton and Daisy Hill - I think the most they can have watching is 15% of their normal capacity.

non league adult stuff - I dont know to be honest

I've told the vets team I play for that I can't compete or train, seems morally wrong to do so atm.

I'll be surprised it it's not all called off soon.

Just been reading a few things that have stated that kids around 10-14 have been tested as positive having just had a slight change in taste and also a snotty nose... These are symptoms that aren't recognised as needing a test, and if it's symptoms that are slightly different will go under the radar attributing it to seasonal flu/colds.

Getting teenagers to follow mask rules is quite hard work, it's going to be a battle in schools, lads year group is isolating so I'm having to stay off with him today, taking turns with Mrs Swanny

A change in smell or taste is a key symptom that justifies a test. Its on the nhs covid web site.

I'd imagine that most kids wouldn't even notice a slight change, for me it was total loss, which was wierd, but some of the ones I've read are only slight

"I don't want to eat my tea".. wouldn't really start alarm bells ringing.

We play 6 a side down behind burnden, they are still open and have not said anything about shutting. As it is we couldn't play this week as a few of the lads couldn't make it, not sure if that's them making a decision based on covid or not but I wasn't too bothered as it stopped me from having to make a tricky moral decision. Burnden have said they are still open next week and hoping we will be playing. I should imagine that's a financial decision though, seeing as they've already missed out on 5 months or so of takings.

Losing my sense of smell was the first thing I noticed. Only because I was cleaning the bathroom and couldn't smell the bleach. I was fine at that point, within 5 hours, I was in bed with a raging temperature and struggling to breathe, that's how quickly it came on

I'm not going to risk cleaning the bathroom ever again

The expert opinion is that playing outdoors team sports is pretty safe.

The thinking is that most infections require a level of viral load that can only be acquired through prolonged exposure to aerosols, around about 15mins or more (which you wont get playing foty for a few hours outside), or by inhaling a large droplet - which when outside, bascially means someone coughing or sneezing into your mouth from less than 2 meters away, without any wind interference, or getting someones snot in your mouth or nose off your own fingers or equpiment.

Data analysis from china shows:

You're 450 times more likley to become infected if you work inside a premises with someone infected, as opposed to a temporary visitor to the same premise (like a shopper)

Indoor infections are 1,245 more likley than outdoor, and of the outdoor ones,  most are from sitiuations like bbq's and picnics were folk sit or stand next to each other for several hours, and put stuff in their mouths, share utensils, don't clean their hands before serving food etc.

It's in the changing rooms, hugging after a goal,  in the car on the way to or from the match,  spectators who dont distance, where the risk is likley to be higher.

@tomski can't get on line at the minute, he's asked me to ask about bumming in the changing rooms, obviously, you're both facing the same direction, so I presume as long as the bummer is wearing a mask, this helps protect the bummee, and it's all good?

Bumming is fine as long as the Bummer (Iain Dowie) is down wind from the Bummee (Graeme Le Saux).

So if in a changing room scenario it's best to do the deed either side of the entrance, with Dowie outside the door and Le Saux in. A gimp mask on both participants is preffered.  pre-coitous rimming is a no-no, as is poo-to-mouth jizz finish, unless wearing a tongue johnny.

Did you not tell the Donald of your experience?

He might have had a rethink about his bleach comments.
