Behind closed doors is a solution for the Premier League who rely on TV income, but the league clubs need gate receipts to pay the players

just can’t see how it works below the PL

Do they truly give a fuck about those below the PL?

I’ll be honest, I really couldn’t give a shit what happens to this season. Looking back at plenty of old games over the last few weeks makes me realise just how bad we are now. It’s going to be a hell of a long way back to anything approaching a team enjoyable to watch

Trouble is, no televised PL means so ‘solidarity’ payments for the rest of us.

For L1 and below its very small, wouldn’t be enough revenue to keep the wheels turning

Even Championship clubs only get £4.5m per season, barely touch the sides that. It’s gates open or no football at our level surely

I can’t see us going from the current restrictions to a full card for of football in 6 weeks

True enough, but the £700k would come in handy all the same. Particularly as it would be reliant on the PL getting started in their physical and metaphoric bubble while we stay put and wait for the nod.

So it’s a separate payment or just an advance on 20/21 money?

The PL have given the EFL an advance on next seasons payments

Tge EFL doesn’t want to pay it out until the next season starts though, god knows when that will be

Either way, it’s not enough to allow football to resume behind closed doors

League One clubs got £700k in 2018/19 so it might be slightly more than that now.

Just had a look, £700k looks right for league 1, league 2 £400k, National £50k

I assume that everyone has had this seasons, next seasons will be paid whenever the season gets going

Still can’t see that being enough to allow football to continue behind closed doors (unless players take a big financial hit)

No I don’t see anything to gain from non-PL playing behind closed doors, but presumably the PL will need to restart one way or another in order to trigger the £700k (or even £400k if we’re deemed to be relegated). Not enough for our level to restart, but a welcome financial boost all the same.

Feels like Players / PFA just kicking the can down the road trying to squeeze a bit more out of it

I assume anyone who’s contract is up in June can still get fucked off then?

But then if football returns in July /August when can you get a squad together

a right mess all this for the EFL

Loads of questions flying about

all good this update but how many clubs will go pop before June, 2 more high street shops going into administration today surely some clubs won’t survive
