BOWTUN BAKED Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I think the Prem/EFL/Fa need to make a decision before the end of the month, if a definite date of resumption is not known by then, then the season should be voided. Clubs & players need to financially plan & dragging it on & on will only cause problems for a number of clubs down the line. There's too many issues surrounding player contracts & club income to delay the season into June & July. Only an opinion of course Quote
Duck Egg Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 What's stopping clubs freezing their players salaries until the season starts again? Is it PL & EFL rules or employment law that would allow them to terminate their contract? Quote
Casino Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 (edited) Employment law Although im pretty sure my contract has so ething about guaranteed weeks and force majeure Little in the world of football contracts comes close to the real world though Edited April 10, 2020 by Casino Quote

Would it become a 'football debt' and the EFL could threaten to withhold the golden share? I've no idea like, just curious to how they get preferential treatment over the rest of us. Quote

When you are furloughed, you accept it as a temporary change to ts and vs You don't have to accept being furloughed Normal folks will accept, but as you will appreciate, football isn't normal If I'm worth 5 million as a footballer, why would I accept I'd say, no thanks, and walk away a free agent Quote
SatanGreavsie Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I was thinking. Presumably no decision on next season's Europa or CL competitions has been made or is even possible right now. But assuming they went ahead in some form then a few questions. If City's ban from the Cl is upheld, was that just from the Cl or all competitions? Because they will have qualified for the Europa by winning the League Cup. Assuming the ban is for both competitions then the Europa slot the FA had would go to the highest league team that needed it. Same for the FA Cup place, given that you have to assume the tournament is not going to finish. Assuming City's CL place is taken by the next team down in the whatever final table there is (ie 5th) then 6th would get Europa as then would the next two. So 8th in the Prem could get you into Europe, which brings everyone down to Palace (11th) or even Everton (12th) into it. Not that I give a fuck, I'm just bored and wondering. Or here's a thought. If the above it correct and then Arsenal finished 6th, Sheffield United 7th and Wolves 8th then instead of handing the Old Gold bastards the "FA Cup winners" place, they could look at who was left in the Cup and say if you've haven't already qualified for Europe then you play for it - which means a one off game between Norwich and Newcastle. And Kenny Hibbitt would be left fuming, the twat. Or summat Quote

But unfortunately their is no football to be played at the moment so they are useless as things stand Freezing / deferring contracts until football resumes is the only credible long term solution should this drag on for more than 3 months Edited April 11, 2020 by birch-chorley Quote
masi 51 Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 (edited) Read a good write up from Karen Brady this morning...No way is the going to be football this year. She states every player will have to be tested before every single match. Then you have the morals of a player getting injured and using nhs resources . Would the public stand for a doctor and ambulance being basically on stand by at each match. No football until we have a vaccine ...Football is going to find out people really dont give a fuck about deadlines and whether one team wins a title or another is relegated Edited April 12, 2020 by masi 51 Quote

Obviously only the Prem and maybe championship could afford it, but everyone's a winner. Agreed, no football this year, we just need a vaccine. Whoever comes up with it will save the planet and give everyone a chance to earn money and enjoy life for the next few decades. He/they will probably get paid less than Darren Pratley and Gary Madine. Quote

Marc505 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Got Trans Europe Express on from last night at moment. It's always excellent apart from Andy Goldstein who is still at the stage of taking the piss out of how people pronounce foreign teams/players during discussions, but anyway... Talking about Bundesliga, teams back in training in groups of 5-6 but no physical contact allowed. Day 1 of Bayern training one player was so happy to see his team mates he jumped on one of them for a hug. Quote
