money will dictate everything. This season will end, and next season  will start about three weeks later

I can see only the fa cup surviving

Sky and to a lesser extent Bt will have the final say.

Analysts think they will lose £1bn in revenue if sport only resumes in August

https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-8157711/Sky-BT-face-1bn-loss-flight-sport-stays-air.html

Assume £2bn if it’s the new year then

those losses will have to be passed on down the food chain, football players are getting the biggest chunk of it. Don’t see how they keep paying them 70% for more than a couple of months at best

Amusing as it is seeing some of the big boys squirm, a proper chunk of the lower league revenue also comes directly and indirectly from sky

I see Liverpool have quite rightly backtracked from furloughing their lower paid staff

Absolutely. As the world's 8th richest club, Spurs should be put under the same pressure now.

I like the EFL proposal simply because it at least shows some constructive thinking is going into how to move forward. It clearly says the dates can be moved dependent upon circumstances at the time.

So frustrating seeing all the neg comments about it on Twitter dismissing it out of hand. If there were no plans being made there'd be criticism for lack of leadership, someone suggests a way to focus minds on the next step and they're accused of acting like this is all going to blow over tomorrow.

Think the mass administration idea is a bit too complicated and long winded to work

Saying that, if it’s likely to be an opening ‘extreme’ as part of the wider negotiation

The only solution I see is for players contracts to be frozen / deferred until football resumes. When it kicks off the contract starts up again for as long as the contract had left to run (I.e of it was going to expire in June and footy is off for 6 months then the expiry is also pushed back 6 months)

I believe Southampton are looking at a deferral scheme

Players can be placed on furlough in the meantime like the rest of the impacted people in the country. With payment holiday freezes for most major outgoings it should still be enough to sustain anyone on for a short period

Without some sort of action many clubs will go under because of this, it’s hard to think of any other industry at the moment that has seen revenue collapse to near zero whilst their major outgoings have stayed the same

I think Holt is spot on with these comments, many league 1 & 2 clubs can’t afford to pay players, contracts end June and season might continue beyond June, add to that clubs playing behind closed doors or even if they allow fans in I can’t believe gates will be high, so the problem for cash strapped clubs is no income and added costs for players after contracts end opening up stadiums, travelling to and from away games.  I think odds stacked heavily in favour of a null void season or a points per game conclusion for league 1 &2.

I definitely agree on the money side of things, it's worrying whichever way you look at it. But I don't think the odds are stacked in favour of null and void, in fact the EFL chairman himself is suggesting the opposite although it wouldn't surprise me if those comments are heavily weighted in favour of the Championship rather than concern for L1 and L2.

End of the day this all boils down to those old worries about our very existence beginning to circle again after I thought they were gone for good.

I think it’s heavily stacked either null and void or points per game, I’d lean towards PPG, don’t think we will play another game this season but I’d think championship and premier league will complete.

That’s the best outcome for us as a club I would say now. We aren’t staying up and to play the games I can’t see we make any profit and If we’ve furloughed our players? Then that’s a huge saving for the club wage wise and will hopefully let us keep our heads above water.

do we think hill and flitcroft are still there? Read something on twitter suggesting possibly not

Hill & Flitcroft are only contracted to June.

I don't expect to see them here next season.

I’ve no inside info in this but Hill mid season mental wobble when he was making crazy comments each week might have been too unprofessional for the likes of Beaugard and Beatty, but who we might go for I’ve not a clue.... Escobarp have you link to the tweet? ...Traf you heard any rumours?
