Hopefully I'd come through, but plenty of people with lots of ongoing symptoms. Anything like that and my job is up the swanny, so no. Twats just follow the rules please and hopefully we can manage this thing until a vaccine is available. Aye. Agree with this. Got a few mates still suffering long term fatigue after catching it back in March.
stevieb
Reckon I had it over Christmas and new year. Worst cold /flu I've ever had. Been having on off colds and coughs since and had January where we were both fucked doing anything. We ain't getting a vaccine that means we all return to norm before end of next year at the earliest. And, without being a Facebook anti-vaxxer, I have to question how reliable is something that will have been pushed through in 18 months or less. The government are consulting on distribution of an unlicensed product already... stevieb
Must add to that... I'm socially distancing and wearing a mask where required We also knew that last Christmas we really didn't want to pass it on to others, we couldn't leave ours but also asked that others give us a wide berth too Looking like it'll be same again this year! 🤣
royal white
Don’t want it but I’d rather have it and get it over and done with. Weren’t the early estimates that 90% of the population will catch it (until a vaccine is available)
Site Supporter Cheese Posted September 22, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted September 22, 2020 (edited) Whether I catch it or not is irrelevant to me - the over-riding factor for me is not wanting to catch it and pass it on to others, which could ultimately result in someone suffering, or much worse. For that reason, I'm happy to take whatever precautions the science suggests may reduce that risk. Although I am in a very fortunate position where I can easily work from home most of the time, and was never furloughed, so I understand why a lot of people think differently. It's an awful situation. Edited September 22, 2020 by Cheese

You won’t have even heard of Wuhan. They didn’t let anyone know about an illness which later became the pandemic until 31st Dec.

Its a funny one this; there was definitely something nasty going about a bit earlier than Covid-19 officially got here. Whether it was that, or something else- another coronavirus perhaps- who knows. I would hazard a guess at it being something else, but when you read about Swanny’s missus, you do wonder.

Indeed, it could well have been C-19 but Wuhan province dragging their feet didn’t alert WHO to anything until it was probably too late to do much. Imagine if the Chinese Province had been put in immediate lockdown.

Imagine if the Chinese Province had been put in immediate lockdown. I heard Trump having another dig at them yesterday. He might actually have a point, assuming his assertion was correct. He claimed they were still allowing international travel, whilst starting local restrictions within the country itself. Bit naughty if they had indeed got concerns over the emergence of a new virus. I've had several discussions about this with the nurses at the Plasma donation place. One of them said to me something along the lines of "I wish I had a quid for every time somebody had said that they'd definitely had it over November or December last year" - she said whenever they've tested any of these people, they've all come back showing that they've not got antibodies, therefore couldn't have possibly had it already. She did confirm there was a very nasty virus/illness doing the rounds at the turn of the year, but it wasn't COVID-19. Obviously that's her opinion, but you'd expect that she would have half an idea

Doesn't mean you haven't had a dose of something a bit nasty though! Some aren't getting any symptoms from covid, whereas flu might drop them. Who knows. Still don't want it though 😕

Nay for moi Certain businesses are required by law to display the NHS QR code posters from today. If they have visitors without the app they have to take a msnual log of the visitors details, or get potential fines.

It uses bluetooth technology for the tracing - lets you know if you've been close to someone for a while who tests positive a few days later - it will be metres mate, or you can turn your bluetooth off when you're working, put it on at other times - it's not going to tell you to isolate if you've walked past someone who gets covid in 2 weeks time.
