That should not mean those that are trying to make ends meet and playing by the rules should suffer.

The onus is on the government to figure out how to deal with it and not just say say “fuck them all”.

Kids must be protected there has to be a safety net, social services are well aware of families with issues that need help, and they get the help they need, opening schools is another blanket suggestion from the Labour Party that is designed to put pressure on the government, not surprised it didn’t pass Parliament. Kids need protecting but this wasn’t the way to go about it in my opinion.

I came from a very poor background as a kid. Had literally fuck all. My mum worked 3 jobs to make ends meet I’ve no idea what support she got from the government but it wouldn’t have been anything like a lot get now. 
 

ive a very good friend who lives on fresh air. She Works Full time has  two young kids both dads give nothing. Utter cunts. She’s a shell Of the person I used to know due to living this life and the stress is causes. Because she works full time etc she doesn’t qualify for free school meals etc and very limited government support. She would be better off not working but she isn’t that sort of person, she’s too proud 
 

ive been paying out of my own pocket for over a year now to bridge the gap between what she earns and gets in support to what they need to live. Every month I do it.

 

I don’t have any kids but the thought of these two going without beaks my heart. It’s why I do what I do. I’m not saying this on here for plaudits. Far from it. I’m saying it because this is a live example of how some folk are actually living. 
 

she’s a fabulous mother but she just cannot survive on what she can generate income wise. It’s a crying shame and upset me one day when I popped round when I was nearby with some bits for the kids and went into the fridge and there was nothing in but half a piece of cheese. She had nothing because her car had broken down and had to get it fixed so they went without food. So that’s when I started helping her. 
 

my missus has no idea I do it she would absolutely flip. 
 

But it boils my piss when I see cunts getting new houses paid from benefits and boozing and never short of fags etc  it’s these people we need to deal with as a society  it’s impossible I know  

i like To think most if not all On here would do the same as me if they had the need and ability.

I’ve sat with her and said I will go and speak to both dadsbut she says no it’s not my place. 
She won’t go for csa and tbh it’s not my place so I just do what I can to help her.

I get the anger about those who take the piss. Especially when you see mates like yours being put off because of the stigma. 

For me FSM is the most effective way of getting a proper meal to those need it. Rashford's charity have spent plenty time researching it to. Can't be sold, traded or misspent. They're effective whilst wider issues are addressed.

I worked for a Housing Association for 4 years and met or heard of so many people who struggle every month to just get by. If you watch Rich House Poor House on the telly the budgets people are surviving on is tiny. These are people on minimum wage and zero hours contracts. £100 a week for a family of four for everything (after rent) is not unusual. £14 a day. £3.50 per head per day. Fuck knows what happens when kids need shoes etc etc. 
Are we really that divided as a society that people would deny a kid a hot meal at Xmas. 
The recession is coming and it is the people at the bottom who will bear the brunt.

I would like to see the Tories come up with an alternative plan to feed these kids over half term perhaps a food voucher system for supermarkets, encourage supermarkets to part fund it, great advertising for those supermarkets who take part, reduces cost to tax payer, prevents schools having to open and staff having to turn up to look after a handful of kids. I’d be much more in favour of a scheme something like this.
