They've been doing just that for some time.

Not even Russia can afford it, and they're up shit creek economically. They do however have many times more personnel, that are more expendable.

One aspect of keeping funding them, is that we don't have the problem of our own guys coming home via body bags.

If the rest of Europe went in full tilt, it would be far more expensive than it is now. There is no ambiguity there.

I think he’s referring to the lower age limit of 27 to join and the average age being 40 and it’s not currently compulsory. 
you have to be at least 27 to join and can’t if you are younger , this policy is to preserve future generations it seems . 
 

so when he says fighting age, I think he means get the young uns involved , as we would here and in most places tbf

They (Ukraine) have literally got blokes in their 50s on the front line. 10s of thousands of men in their 20s are at home. If you want a big push to move  Russia  back then you’re going to need a massive input of fresh skin. 
 

If they’re happy to just keep doing what they’re doing on Ukrainian soil then crack on. I’m pretty sure no one wants that though.

Could Russia not also just do the same?  - if they mobilised every 20~30 year old they have, surely they could just chuck a few million soldiers at it and overpower the resources that Ukraine have

Or, now they have Trumps backing, could they not just whack a single tactical nuke into Kiev, that would most likely force a surrender I'd have thought

Russias kit is shite. We’ve known this from the start. There’s numerous reports that they’re running out of manpower and morale is low. (A case for both countries).

Russia could - but they won't. One of the reasons that their public has continued to back the war is a large number of their recruits have come from areas outside the main cities, the prison population and mercenary groups/foreign fighters. So they have avoided thousands of body bags arriving back in the capital and angering the 'Mothers of Russia'. 

And even the US would struggle to back Russia if they launched a nuke.

The Ukrainians are probably the best fighting army on the planet, better than the UK or US or whoever owing to their bang up to date actual man on man (or drone on drone) experience. Give them the dogs bollocks in kit and they'll probably do the job. I think they could become the basis of an European Army.

I was talking to some cleaners on a site late last year, they were Ukrainians and told me they couldn't go home as they didn't want to fight (I think they were pro-Russian)... I don't know how "legal" they were but I left them scrubbing the floors

I fully agree with the Don for once (😱).  I’m sure VZ would make it hard to do a deal with the Russians.  It’s called negotiation, as opposed to capitulation and having your tummy tickled like Trumpy.

Maybe put them alongside the 2nd Paras who share the same level of violence, give them the best kit and they would certainly dish it out.

I realise our special forces are always lurking in various theatres but I still maintain that the current Ukrainian land army are probably the most competent combatants owing to their achievements over the past 3 years and as your suggestion, if we actually gave them the very best kit to go alongside the extremely effective low-tech drone weapons they have developed...
