So Sadiq fooled you (no surprise) with a few photos, read the accompanying tweets instead of looking only at the pictures.

Did he call St George a racist or something?

I can’t se anything in his tweet that in any way degrades or demeans St George’s day.

There were people whining on social media yesterday that supermarkets hadn’t put enough bunting up.

Grown men, I hasten to add.

It was a peaceful protest for biodiversity. Either way, he was celebrating St. George's day.

You and Bolty have had a bit of a shocker here to be honest. Screeching about a problem that doesn't exist. Remind me again who the wet wipe is ? 😁

I hope that if you celebrated you had a good one 👍

Edit* I've actually no idea what it is we've all been fooled by ? Can you elaborate please?

Screeching!! Me 🤣 I’m not overly fussed about St George’s day, just pointing out some folk think Khan chucks silly money at Eid and makes what seems a cursory gesture to St George’s day.

Fairly certain every town in the country puts up lights and trees for Christmas?

It's pathetic snowflake nonsense from people who want to create a problem out of nothing. St. George's day just isn't a big national celebration. But when you look at things like Christmas and the Queen's funeral and the Coronation coming up, it is patently obvious that we don't hide away from celebrating our culture and traditions. Nor are we afraid to and that's the way it should be.

We just don't tend to do it through St. George. To say we're scared of being British is nonsense and if you're bemoaning Ramadan celebrations because there wasn't a St. George's parade then you're reaching new levels of shithousery. The fact we put up lights for Ramadan only shows how tolerant and welcoming we are. An aspect of being British that should be celebrated.

It's the second largest religion in the city mate. They would have thrown more money at Christmas.

As you say, folk just aren't that fussed about St. George's day. Got nothing to do with fear of celebrating - we don't shy away from celebrating our culture and traditions in other ways.

Not sure what the problem is?

Looks like nobody has been fooled after all 👍

But comparing Eid with St. Georges Day is comparing apples and oranges. Comparing Eid with Christmas would be a better comparison surely?

No

stinky Muslims getting more tweets than good old St George.

Its rotten.

Christmas is over commercialised apparently, and barely anyone goes to church.

I didn’t even know it was Eid until the day. They just don’t have a proper build up like we do - toy adverts on the telly 3 months in advance etc…

booooo

Pub in Horwich made an effort last year, flags bunting etc.

When I walked past in the evening there were about 5 people in.

Its just not that big a deal.

Fair enough to those who want to "celebrate" it, but as you say, most people don't seem to be fussed either way. It's really never been a "thing" and I'm not sure it ever will be (especially as "the media" are afraid to mention it, allegedly)

There does though, seem to be a "type" who want to celebrate St Georges day though

Can't recall anybody giving a fuck about St Georges day until recent years,  which now mostly boils down to posting a meme or whining about not being allowed to celebrate it on the internet. Folk used to be more arsed about St Patrick's day.

Walking down regents Street the other day i did think they were a bit late in getting their Xmas lights down.

Went in the local pub for a couple last night and loads of St George's flags. It appears it was being celebrated by a ton of blokes in their late 20s shoveling loads of coke up their hooters and annoying everyone.

It's usually portly, over 50's dressed as "knights" carrying around football flags who "celebrate" such an event, it's good to see the the young 'uns are getting involved
