Sent home from an NHS job at 3:00 because our safety count be guaranteed. Patients cancelled etc. Passed a female copper on my way out who had been drafted in from Liverpool and was putting on a stab vest at the door. Gave her a smiley face jam doughnut and told her to keep up the good work because it was the best I had at the time.

Anybody involved in any of this on either side tonight is an absolute cretin and wants locking up. Either that or get that them all on the pitch at the Reebok with gladiatorial weapons and let the silly twats have it out.

What I can not understand is this.....

 

We have thousands and thousands in the asylum backlog. That we're funding hotels and hostels for.

We also need loads of immigrants a year to come in and do some very basic jobs 

Does it not make sense to process the asylum seekers we have and match them against the people we need ? 
 

Obviously won't be a total match ( I know they are not going to nuclear physicists) but surely makes sense ?

And once they’re processed where do they go then? Is it back to the hotel or does a house magically appear for them?

They find somewhere to rent, this is what people who are being shipped in have to do. My Mrs does viewings for an estate agent and lots of her appointments are people coming in to do care jobs etc that are not medically qualified

Exactly. Our economy is crying out to utilise these immigrants in our workforce. They feel wanted which helps them integrate more quickly. They can be trained to do numerous jobs that we have vacancies for. Win win.

You are aware of the housing crisis aren’t you? Do you think these people are all of a sudden going to get an house in their preferred area, have a deposit, a month rent up front and a further months rent?

 

 I fully agree with you about getting them working ASAP. That needs to be done, but reality is they will have to go back to hotels or houses paid for by the government which are just as expensive as the hotels (see Serco)
