  1. Tree fellers? Thought there was only 2 of em???
  2. Much the same mate. Always loved our history. In my misguided youth I was all over the Ulster thing. No surrender all that caper. Then I read a few books and saw things from a different angle and what utter cunts we've been historically in Ireland and it's no wonder they hate us. Same goes all over the world. I'm proud we've given the world so much, but Christ almighty we did a lot of damage along the way.

Desperately need the 3 points here, and they're tapping it around like it's a fucking pre-season friendly.
  4. Ha! If we spared jail time for everyone vandalising or destroying our heritage, we'd have none left! That tree was more cultural than some lass in a union jack dress

All this panicked talk of what other teams have done seems a bit melodramatic. We've made 6 signings ourselves so far this summer and that won't be the last.

In Portugal it's known as the peri-perineum
  7. I can't articulate it mate. I wish I could and I know what you're saying makes sense logically. It's very much just an emotive argument from me. And not because I was particularly fond of the tree either. It's wanting to wilfully destroy something, just because you know that other people find it something beautiful or makes them happy. It's kind of the most scumbagly thing I could probably think of (notwithstanding more serious or violent crimes of course). There's something about it that makes my skin crawl.

Crikey, have you watched or heard the comments from SS? The whole video explained everything. The identification of what is wanted- granular detail down to certain areas of the pitch. The scouting process that follows, not just videos, data etc but chatting to poeple about their character. There are no assumptions whatsoever- the process was fully explained. They simply wouldn't be here if they didn't meet those requirements. That's what forms the basis of player acquisition and for me, confidence in the whole as much as an individual. Synergistic approach. Unless we're buying players for big money, with completely proven backgrounds, then there is never loads of evidence of their suitability, and even then, no guarantees. It's simply a case of trusting the manager to do his job, and he has proven before that he can do it at this level, using this approach. You won't hear him trumpeting himself and his team as the best in the league, but he is clear about his methods and requirements, and seemingly confident in himself, albeit with the humility to acknowledge his own failings and nervousness.
  9. Not with you on this one. I think you have to be an utter cretin to go and do something like that. Drive miles out of your way to cut down a tree. Just because you know that lots of people like that tree. If they even stood to gain something from it then I'd have probably been able to understand it a bit more. If it was for financial gain for example. It's the fact that they did it just to be a pair of obnoxious cunts that really riles me. 2 years is about right I think. Weirdly - it was the same feeling of anger I had when ISIS were destroying centuries old temples in Iraq etc, albeit on a much lower level 😁 The arrogance of it. I hate things like that.
  10. By the way Anyone voting for a party that will go back to burning as much oil and coal as they possibly can is a proper m()ng Renewable energy is the only way we survive long term. Whether we deserve to is another matter altogether,

Well. That will teach me. I’m not in Palma at all. Got here and the Mrs called me a stupid cunt cos we’re in Palmanova but we’re not even there we’re in Terranova. Right next to Magaluf Tell you what though I’d come back here again any day. Love this place. Chilled as fuck and the Magaluf crowd don’t wander over. It’s more local than anywhere I’ve ever been in Majorca
  12. When there’s space in jails. 10 years planting trees (for these 2) would be a better punishment

Highlight of that was Simons. Strong, commanding presence and superb crossfield passes. Upgrade on sheehan and Morley. Need to keep him fit.

They sent lofty to Bejing on concorde to get it.
  16. The sentence for the tree fellers seems about right to me. I'd have been disappointed if they'd been spared jail.

I'm impressed by Blackpools signings but I can't see anyone who they've outbid us for or even if theyve spent more money. I'd say they've been quite shrewd more than anything. We've done ample business thus far, we just don't know much about who we've signed.

    Blackpool won’t be all that.
  20. I loved History at school and went on to do it at A level too. We must have covered the best part of a 1000 years History over the years but didn't spend 1 minute on the UKs colonial past. It's only in the years since that I found out we, ie the British, were quite often a bunch of c*nts. Fair play to that drama group doing something so enlightened back then.
  21. For 450 notes I'd expect a Certificate of Authenticity stating they were hand sown on the naked lap of one of the naturist nuns of the Convent of St. Crispin* using only rare breed alpaca wool interspersed with their trademark pubes for every thousandth stich. Living a life of strict adherence to their vow of lack of clothes, the convent lies in a secluded valley north eat of Padua and is only ever visited by a Papal delegate twice a year, who collects the finished garments and confirms the sisters' strict adherence to their vows through thorough inspection. Such is the diligence of the delegate, visits are said to take up to a week to complete, sometimes longer. Indeed, in at least one instance, the delegate was never heard of again. * According to wiki, St. Crispin is the Patron Saint of cobblers, which this all is.
  22. In the 70s (maybe still do) the Octagon theatre used to have some yellow square shaped vans that would go around doing performance's and activities and i would imagine mainly in schools, most older posters will remember these vans and if they turned up at your school you knew you were in for a fun morning or afternoon or at least it was a break from the normal. These were mainly student actors or old hippies that were cadging a living doing this, anyway they turn up and do a drama/play about an incident in India in the days of colonial rule where the British army shoot a loac of civilians (don't know the history of it but im sure someone will), most kids had nodded off or were thinking about steve Austin or bay city rollers or something of the time and only paid attention when the powerful message of the killing started. After the performance had finished there was probably half an hour before home time so the teacher asks what were people's thoughts on the play? Most kids say nothing but someone had said that it makes them feel ashamed to be British!!!!. Anyway most kids had never given this a second thought but one had gone home and told his father that we were being made to feel ashamed to be British at school, next day , BEN were there, the kids dad was there and the local NF were outside the gates.
  23. Superb fielder. 😉

  25. Sounds like the first line of a John Cooper Clarke poem. "I had a shit in the toilets in the Octogen today I tried to flush, but it wouldn't go away..." As performed on Granada's So It Goes hosted by Tony Wilson in 1976.
  26. Slates clean for me. I hope he proves us all wrong and smashes it the lad.
  27. The happy shop just has a vague 'end of July' delivery date on the site for both kits. So it is possible the shop stock is stuck in China.
  28. I get what you mean, and I was thinking about the same thing earlier and whether there was a distinction. But then I came to the conclusion that in an instance like the Bristol one a few years back, you could at least make the argument that there was a political motive behind it, and that those people (rightly or wrongly) felt that they doing something for the good of humanity or just got caught up in the moment. These tree cutters are just cunts. And the sentences do have to reflect that. Otherwise it's a bit like someone knocking over part of Stonehenge and people saying that they shouldn't get a custodial sentence because people knock over buildings all the time. Bit of a clumsy analogy I know. Some things are sacred is I guess what I'm trying to say.
  29. Fair enough. We all have our own idea about what punishments we'd meet out for various crimes, if we were in charge. There's just something about this one that touched a raw nerve with me. I was going to say bring back the birch. That would have a certain poetic justice about it.
  30. Came across this the other day Proper nasty piece of work, is dubai based tice
  31. Yes, though that doesn't surprise me. I know a few thought we'd loan him out or put him in the stiffs, but I felt from SS comments that perhaps he'd be there or thereabouts. Anyway, the midfield two that finished the game looked very solid- essential if we're going with 2 proper wingers. We seem more physical and stronger all over. Brighton lad has lots of ability and pace, hope he can match it with end product. Another practice game under their belts.
  32. Craig north comments are better than the game
  33. Agreed. Also like the look of Taylor.
  34. I still think our wide options look very lightweight. Be nice to have one with a bit of strength as I fear we may get bullied a lot especially away from home. It’s nice to have some pace in the side though. Looked a lot better when the subs happened, like the look of Taylor marauding forward - big, strong and a bit of pace too
  35. I’ve been called worse. 😉
  36. You got there eventually. 👍
  37. Simons looking good. Both wingers better than shone.
  38. Because I like understanding things, or hearing someone else's opinion.
  39. Is Schon a footballer? Serious question.
  40. Could do with Bang Average back in our ranks. Not scared to run at people.
  41. We have all 3 of our creative guys together. Maybe SS is looking to see who does well together, and who doesn't. I don't think they are a good partnership, so use these games to assess what, if anything, can be done to improve it. Second half will be different.
  42. The ECHR needs reforming as many commentators attest to. It won't be, and we don't do what others do when they disagree with a ruling. Therefore leaving seems the only option. Your Brexit/Migrant comment is the same as ever, as used as ever. Change it to post covid and you're getting there. The threshold for entry was reduced to allow people in to replace many European workers who had gone home during the pandemic. Unfortunately, they brought dependents in (as they would) and the threshold wasn't put back up soon enough. Then Hong Kong too, which was fulfilling our requirements to those from the former British Dependent Territory. As soon as the threshold went back up, the numbers started to drop. The inability and lack of will to tackle the illegal migrant situation is what is costing the main parties, and will do so at the next election.
  43. Come on @burndendoing your job here
  44. Just need to get out of this league.
  45. This whole thing of needing 3 first team goalkeepers has always seemed weird and new to me. We never had 3 goalkeepers during big Sams era in the Prem, it was Jussi and 40 year old Kevin Poole, who had been injured for over a year when we signed him. It was similar with Al-Habsi and Ian Walker too.
  46. Or a grubby fleece with a big wolf on the back.
  47. The stupidity of some teachers and schools is hitting new levels. Fkin idiots.
  48. Cracking trip, 2 nights drinking in Banús, jibbed in the training session day before the game ( 22 fans paid for the pleasure) Schumacher and most of the coaching team and the new ceo came to talk to me and my lad and spent a good length of time chatting with us. Sadly missed the squad and Schumacher singing the Wanderer in the portside bar last night in Banús. Thought the game was a cracking run out, was a high tempo affair and some good performances.
