Wouldn't have thought that would be the be all and end all.

Surely he had an alibi etc. Just seems weird.

Anyway, hope he gets to enjoy the rest of his life.

He was on the today program this morning.
explained how it came about, GMP destroying evidence after they realised they made a fuck up, witnesses known criminals and drug addicts who would have ulterior motives etc

was interesting and frightening at the same time.
it’s probably available on I player , radio 4, this morning about 8:10

Surely it's the responsibility of the prosecution to prove he was at the crime, rather than him showing he wasn't.

The crime happened this century, so perhaps a bit surprising that cctv, road cameras, phone data etc couldn't show where he was, or wasn't.

I've seen bits and pieces on TV where experts have explained that witnesses regularly give conficting information about identities, just seems odd that being picked out would condemn him. Surely other stuff backed it up.

Bonkers how much crime goes unsolved/wrongful arrests etc with the amount of cameras around.

It is the responsibility of a prosecutor to convince a jury that he was there .

he was found guilty by a jury as a culmination of “evidence “ presented before them .

He was on radio 2 later, he is a nightmare for GMP in that he is very articulate and sounds like he has spent a good deal of the time calmly planning.

He looks nothing like the photofit.

The attacker had a Bolton accent, he does not.

He was the wrong height.

The attacker had a smooth chest he is a hairy fucker

The victim did not mention tattoos on the attacker he has loads.

He must have been a suspect for some reason but he has no reason to discuss that.

His compo could be about £1m but as mentioned will be charged for rent and board (unlike guilty prisoners) , he is also planning a civil case where the amount he gets could be in addition to the compo.

Surely to God that’s a wind up about charging him for staying in prison.

Nope, it seems like the system works out what you might have earned during the period and then deducts costs you would have incurred, including housing costs.

This was on Jeremy Vine, so unless he was mistaken.

Cheers for this. Explains a lot.

Those responsible should be seeing a 20 year stretch at least. Can't think of anything more able to destroy a person than being wilfully set up by those charged with protecting us.

Fucking abhorrent.

I’d be fuming at £2-3m. I’d want ten times that for 17 years in prison.

Me too. Surely no one would pay voluntarily to be housed in prison, so how can he be charged money for incarceration.

Hope he manages to get that sorted.

He should get Farage on the job.

Max is £1m with upto 25% deducted.

Can not even blame the Tories for this one . 😂😂

He'll get more than that for the TV series/movie rights.

The guys speech was chilling, and faultless, stated that " its been a nightmare being the only person knowing he's innocent whilst judges, police, prison guards, inmates, media all live in some cooked up fantasy land believing him guilty.".. or words to that effect.

Contemplating whether Id do 17 years inside for £3m...

Reckon Id do 18 months for that much easy.

Fuck that. I’m too good looking to spend more than 5 mins in GERMANY. I’d want 10m for 18 months and not a chance I’d write 17 years off.
