37.7% possession.

Nevertheless, 17 shots, and one on target.

They had 4 shots, with none on target.

Evatt-esque by them.

An improvement in finishing still required for us, but still a better use of the possession that we had.

Yes, for all their possession and some saying they were easily the best team we've played, I never once felt threatened by them, other than that free header 1st half.  Crossing, shooting, passing in final 3rd was really poor and they were strangely lacking any height or pace, at least till the substitutions.  On a good day (eg the Wigan or Plymouth performances), we win that comfortably.

There really is nothing to fear in this league, nowhere near the standard of Pompey, Ipswich, Plymouth of recent years, its there for the taking.

I don’t  think Cardiff were as good as people are claiming, sloppy on the ball, slow build up and no cutting edge. Expect they are better than that but wasn’t impressed with them today.

I said earlier they felt like us over last couple of seasons, more interested in looking like a good team than being one.

Forgot to mention earlier that GJ and Toal were both very good today and the keeper did well on crosses. Poor bloke keeps a clean sheet and his shot/goal ratio does not improve 😂😂👍😎

Just been reading a Cardiff forum.

Seems like they agree with my second sentence, but not so much the first.

Barnsley looked better than them for me, on the day.

Bearing in mind that anyone that saw us beat Wigan will think we're top 2 material and anyone that saw our last 2 away defeats will see us as powder puff, so one game is far from being a true indicator.

That was just a game of attrition with neither side wanting to lose but that goal was deserving of winning any game.

You were saying earlier that it was “shite”  and now a game of attrition but surely it was obvious that SS had set us up to defend?

From the off he went with just one striker, both our widemen were dropping deep to help out the midfield and even Sheehan suddenly learned how to get stuck in and make a tackle.

Almost seems like a tactical masterclass from Schumacher. He knew exactly what to expect from Cardiff, set us up like it was the Alamo, kept their opportunities to next to fuck all and then switched it up to an attacking system right at the end.

Rope a dope, amigo.

Not much between 2 decent sides, a lot of the ball for them but failed to trouble us at all really. Can’t remember TSL having a save to make?

Another game, another no-save game!  The lack of saves this season really is bizarre.

Great handling and commanding his box today, and good distribution (we do pass to him too much though).

Small point i know after such an important win and great winning goal. But what's going on with the south stand away allocation. Seems wev'e done away with any home support in there. Re-today and Bradford. Why were Cardiff not given top tier and addiontal space in the lower tier.

If Cardiff wanted more they could have had them, but half 12 kick off and on telly can see why they didn't take the full 5k.

Glad you are finally seeing that he is more than a one trick pony.....Yes we need to improve and we cannot rely on ACD every week but this squad is growing and yes there will be weeks like Burton again this season but i think we are stronger than where was was this time last season

If you include Lincoln's own goal that's seven points ACD has won us late on. Practically on his own. Some player.

Massive win. Didn't need to be pretty, just needed the three points.

Yes, unbelievable that one player has done that 4 times in the last 10 games.

And a last minute goal for us wouldn't have changed the result in 5 of the other 6.  So the last 5 times we've needed a goal to change the result going into injury time, he's done it 4 times 😀

(Its 6 points BTW, not 7)

Well that's down to the defence playing very solidly. Hardly TS-L's fault.

I have always known he’s “more than a one trick pony”  - and today he used the right trick in the right game which he hasn’t always done.

On that i agree....Another plus he at times gets it wrong like we all do.....If you learn and change all is well.

It is when you repeat those mistakes like in anything in life you get found out

Its obviously a policy shift, but presume that's the sort of question that can be asked at the fans forum.

Along with why do we get drowned by that cacophony of noise pre-match.

(Obviously most of us won't be there, not sure why they can't just do an online Q&A)

That’s a promotion team’s result.

Agree with what a lot of others have said - they were the best team we’ve faced, but too often took the slow option and let us off the hook.

Looked for all the world like a 0-0 and ACD didn’t have his best game but fuck me, he’s a match winner. To still have the gas after all the running to produce that in the 94th minute is amazing. If he stays, and stays fit, then he gets us promoted.

Special mention to some players that I’ve not been the biggest fan of recently.

Cogley had his best game in a long time, really impressed and like the Cogley of a year ago. Couple of loose passes but he’s was otherwise very very good, especially defensively.

Toal and GJ. I saw their 2 big lads up top and worried for us. They didn’t find it easy dealing with long balls but defended brilliantly - always in the right place and didn’t give the strikers a sniff. Fair play, I wanted Forino in there but you can’t fault them on today’s performance.

Man of the match for me though was Sheehan. Best performance of the season, bossed the midfield, didn’t put a foot wrong, great defensive positions but also really good getting us going forward. Maybe it was the Welsh thing but he was top drawer.

Those 2 results will be the ones we point to when we get promoted. Huge character and finally we have a team that win the big games!

Happy Saturday

Cogley's run about a minute before the goal was a game clincher for me.  Cardiff were breaking, I think Toal intercepted, the ball broke to Cogley, he put ACD through with a short pass.  Instead of watching him sprint, he backed him up with a massive lung bursting run to overlap, when he must have already been nackered.  That move was intercepted and Cogley was out of position, it could have gone the other way, but they gave us the ball back, Toal burst forward and Cogley was still up front, and as at Huddersfield contributed to an injury time goal just with his positive attitude and energy.

I disagree on Sheehan, I've seen him look on a different level but not today, but who cares, its good that everyone sees the games differently.  As far as I'm concerned we beat the league leaders with a performance that only scratched the surface of our potential.

They reminded me so much of us under Evatt. Sideways and backwards with no potency whatsoever which is crazy considering some of the talent the evidently have in that team. You can see why that Colwill in CM is getting all the publicity at the moment. Thought their striker didn't give our defense a second with his pressing - didn't stop.

But in typical Evatt style, possession and tippy tappy bollocks counts for absolutely nish 😁
