I bet it's more than half of them.

I've literally heard nobody even talk about Lent since school.

Now it seems - everybody of a certain persuasion is dead keen on it! 😂

Can someone post our lot outside Stamford bridge about 10 years ago. Proper Remploy day out

Up there with those noncey blokes encouraging that teenage girl to do Ronaldo's sui celebration in some concourse

I'm absolutely convinced that every fan base has em and we're no better or worse than any other clubs.

The BWFC Facebook group does sorely test that belief though.

From what I know of Ramadan, it’s similar to lent in terms of it being a period of observance and fasting . Lent is a period for Christians , lots will have got ashes today .
I do often wonder, (well not that much ) but why is Ramadan marked by most organisations but the “ traditional “ observance is hardly mentioned.
At the end of Lent you get Easter well wishes obviously , but the start is never marked or mentioned like Ramadan is which is also marked st the end .

but the way, I’m not arsed, I don’t think those commenting will have much of an idea about Lent either, it’s just for discussion on here but you will never hear a statement saying, “ wishing all our fans a peaceful Holy Week” for example .

Lent and Ramadan are similar ideas, the muzzies fast during daylight hours, Christians give up crisps. Hence why it's a bigger deal for the followers of Mo than for the majority of default CofE folk living here.

Hmm agree with that in essence re the general Muslim adherence , but would argue Lent is a bigger thing than simply “giving up crisps” for quite a substantial number of people.

It is for Catholics (like my MiL) especially but for the vast majority of those commenting on the clubs Ramadan post lent is that bit in the build up to Easter where you save 20p's in a Smarties tube for a charity at school.

Aye that’s true , don’t dispute that bit, or your description “ default CofE” think that’s bang on .
but still, lent is a huge part of many peoples  lives non the less and doesnt command the same well wishes from organisations that Ramadan does . Probably due to the reasons you mention to be fair.

Who knew there were so many Knight Templar given the movement was disolved by the Pope in the 14th Century? Quite the Catholic resurgance amongst our fellow Whites.

😂😂 - that's always a dead giveaway.

Like posting something slightly racist on Facebook is the modern equivalent of being a crusader! 😂

Should be pointed out we have a carol service at the club every Christmas which I expect none of them attend

Edit

I decided to start pointing it out

Also saw this comment and replies

It's bloody depressing mate. And they all say the same thing too. And then like each others posts that are identical. I've given up trying to reason with people!

To be fair, it should be a white horse.

And they would probably eat the horse as well!

Remove the horse and replace it with some rice and a couple of chopsticks!

I am dead old, got 2 step kids who bought us catholics went to a catholic school and for 5 or 6 years went to all their church events from carol services midnight mass Confirmation etc etc and not once have I heard anyone wish anyone a peaceful or any other type of Holy Week.

Happy Easter, Easter Eggs and moaning about the price of lamb and wondering who first put mint sauce on meat and then farting a lot is what a good traditional British values inspired Easter is all about.

Won't be long till folk start pointing out the words "Easter eggs" have been removed from Easter egg boxes even though they are either still there, or never were, depending on the egg

Proud to support such a diverse club

COYWM

Thing is, the fan base isn't particularly diverse.

Look around at the next home game.

Used to see a couple of Asian lads, who I'm sure were Hindu.

Apart from that, I can't recall seeing anyone other than white people in the area I sat in.

Fan base doesn't reflect the demographic of the town.

Hence the pointlessness of the posts by the club.

The comments about our fan base not celebrating lent is no doubt accurate, however I reckon it's a given that quite a few more do celebrate it than celebrate Ramadan, or any other festival.

On that basis, either wish every religion happy whatever, or leave it alone.

Just gaslighting for me.

The club do wish every one a happy everything as fair as I'm aware, Christmas with carol services, Eid, Chinese new year (i know a Chinese Bolton lad who's dad owned wongs chip shop in Blackburn road)

Just not lent

I was brought up a Roman Catholic

No one ever celebrated or wished each other a happy lent

It's just something that happened

It's like saying why not wish every a happy pan cake day

Amir Khan is a Bolton fan, for all we know they're all watching on wanderers tv

Seen a Muslim family a couple of times this season in NU. If that message makes them feel more welcome and encourages the kids to stick with it and we end up with a few more young ones brain washed into a life of following the wanderers and so putting their money into the club, then fair play to the club for doing it.

Personally just see it as another victory in the battle of stopping local kids supporting either of the shithouses down the road in Manchester.

Similar.

Full blown left footer, altar boy, weekly mass attending until the hangovers started at 18.

Not once did anybody say 'happy lent'. Not a thing.
