I went on the Burnden pitch after the Fulham game and after the Preston game.

Never been on the Reebok pitch.

think I've still got some grass from that.

might be the last bit of Burnden Park grass left ...

I don’t want to be a killjoy (I’ve been on the pitch at Burnden, after Preston match, a couple of times during the Hull match and various others that it’s probably sensible not to mention) - if you want to run on the pitch after a play-off semi final then fair enough. But I think doing that - both team and fans - shows a lack of focus. Both fans and team effectively thought that beating Barnsley meant we were up. It’s arrogance and we paid for it at Wembley. Get the job done and then celebrate.

The only time I've ever been onto the pitch was against Preston at Burnden.

It does happen after promotion games.

Winning a semi final isn't one of those occasions though.

I went on the pitch after Sheff Wed in 82!  We hadn't even confirmed we were stopping up but it was such a massive result to beat them unexpectedly it felt natural (in my youth), although there was probably no more than 1k that did.  I remember being amazed at how crap the pitch was, I was playing on better surfaces for the school team.

Then Wigan in Freight Rover semi was a proper invasion, folk getting stuck trying to get over the tall iron railings.

That Sheff Wed game the pitch was appalling. I think they scored early on through Terry Curran. With my vague memory, I seem to recall Curran’s lob was going wide but hit some mud on the Burnden pitch and went in. That could just be my shit middle aged man’s memory…

Thinking back over pitch invasions of my time

Didn't go on at Hull because i was grounded for being caught with weed

Went on at Burnden v Preston

Didn't go on at port vale

Not v Peterborough as was in west upper

Not v forest as wasn't there but if i was would still be in west upper

Said i wouldn't v Barnsley but with the relief of their second half come back i couldn't help myself

The Barnsley play-off was the first time I've ever joined in with a pitch invasion. My kids basically forced me to do it. At the time, it really did feel like we were up, and the Oxford game was just a formality. After the highs of that night, followed by the absolute fucking farce at Wembley, my lad fell out with it all completely - and I can't blame him. It was a proper battle getting him back into it the following season. If we get to the final this year, it's going to cost me a fucking fortune getting him to Wembley again. Probably have to soften him up with a week in Paris or summat, with a quick stop off in London on the way there.

Went on v Bury in Play Offs, Hull, Preston as a kid.

Weird as it didn't seem to happen after that. You'd have thought Swindon and Wolves semis were prime for it. And even the last game.

Vale was just madness and it seemed to happen every week after covid.

I think the teamtalk would have needed a bit more detailed instruction.

1.  Look at this, they think they've already won it

2.  First time Bang Average gets the ball, put him out of the game.

It was never even a thought for so long, but it felt completely natural against Peterborough (only time I’ve been on) and since then everything has become a lot more feral.

@Zico‘s post has reminded me that it was actually the Forest game when I went on and not Peterborough.

Does he mention the "smash Maghoma as soon as possible" tactic?

Aye if you look closely there's a little black magnet flicked on to the floor they edited out.

Stockport being at wembley for the pizza cup is their trip to wembley. Bit like us in our year. Rare to make it twice in one season.

@whiteboy managed to go to Wembley twice in May 2024 with Solihull Moors. Bolton v Oxford the same month too. Lost them all 😆

So, same games played right now and it's an 11 point gap to make up.

Seems impossible but Cardiff have lost 2 out of 3 now and could have more of a wobble. And we have to play them. Get the win today and let's see how they cope after these losses

Another with no idea got sacked a few months after....Just copied what Simpson and Maloney did 6 month previously and put a high press

And yes smashing Maghoma was key
