Not a penny spent.

Bear in mind Holding was sold for £2.5m, Clough for £2.6m and Woolery for £200k

There's players there I'd banished to the mind locker forever :D

Chris Taylor. Bloody hell.

I don't.

We had a team with Premier league and championship experience then.

What would that cost now?

There weren't that many, and the ones that had played at that level weren't really of that kind of quality

Bradford traditionally come out to You Never Walk Alone on the anniversary so if folk can spread the word to avoid the everyone’s* natural reaction to boo it.

* Apart from L/H White, obviously

I didn't know they did that, but you mentioning it has reminded me I bought the YNWA single that came out to raise funds, it was a re-release by Gerry Marsden (it got to no.1).  At the time I remember thinking I can't do anything to help but the least I can do is buy the record to show a bit of solidarity.

In those days that song wasn't purely sung by Liverpool fans, nearly everyone sang it occasionally, so it was very appropriate.  Not so today, it can only be associated with Liverpool (or Celtic) now and nobody else would sing it.  But I'd forgotten how much its now part of Bradford's history (tragically) and rightly so.

I’ll give you Pratley, Spearing, Wheater and Mark Davies (only played 6 games) but they were inherited. Andy Taylor an experienced loan player.

Only players in the squad that year that we had paid a fee were £300k for Max Clayton and a bag of balls for Conor Wilkinson

In comparison, reported fees this season for Gale (£600k), Erhahon (£750k), Simons (£300k) and six figures apiece for Bonham and Temple

Anyway, on to tomorrow and whether to brave not taking a jacket!

Bolton fans singing it at the end of the Reading play off final would be mind blowing to anyone under 35

Toal is a footballer who is terrified of the ball. It isn’t a good trait.

Probably another player we should have shifted on at the height of his powers (see also Morley, Dempsey, Santos, Charles)

For a player that's scared of the ball, he's better at controlling it, passing it and running with it than Forino (and I'm a Forino fan as he's the only one that wins all the headers).  But comparing the two, Toal will come out of defence, maybe beat a man and pass intelligently.  Forino will get rid at the first opportunity.

Toal's goal at Shrewsbury last year, running forward and burying it in the bottom corner from 20 yards, not many CBs can do that, certainly none of our's of the IE/SS era.

I don't recognise the player that's being described.

He’ll be the one SS said was going to be a late call then presumably?

The way he was hobbling after the game last week it would be amazing if he could play tomorrow.

Some pace in that front line if Burstow comes in Gale,ACD, Kenny and Burstow....Lets get it long into the channels

Shite pitch get at them from the off

Are you being serious?  Struggling to remember a slower forward for us since Madine, although Dalby does come close.  I'm discounting Etete obviously.

It was compulsory for any team getting to Wembley in the 70s, 80s and early to mid 90s to sing YNWA, we definitely did in 86 and 89.  Not sure if we did v Liverpool in 1995!

Let’s not forget we conceded a goal last week that was because Toal was bringing the ball out of defence, fell over it and was then hopelessly out of position on the break

Less, less, more (slightly), less, less

The bit I’ve never understood about Toal is why nobody in our fitness team has got hold of him and put him on the Thomason bulking programme of a couple of summers ago.

He’s tall enough to be a ‘big’ centre back, but he’s bullied as easily (possibly more so than) GJ who gives up 3-4 inches on him. He’s always looked slight and I’m not saying it would suddenly make him the perfect centre back - it wouldn’t solve the panicky tendency - but it would help him a lot in this league if he was more imposing and stronger.

If the players are good enough they will get us up if not another clear out for next season though not as extreme as last summer probably looking at 5 or 6 changes compared to 20  Monet spent on a keeper and the defence as a priority

Will be a bigger clear out than last year either way

When Toal and Johnston have more touches than your midfield two which they do most weeks you have a massive problem

YNWA #56 #97

Be nice to hear it without Gerry Marsden piped through speakers

Can you tell me a Quicker four outside our premiership days than ACD,Gale, Kenny, Burstow?

Yes Burstow may be a touch behind the other three but he is no slouch

Gale's certainly the quickest to disappear when it comes to defending.

Jesus Christ.

We also signed Lawrie Wilson who despite his experience looked like he'd never seen a football before.
Makes Cyrus Christie look like Cafu

Our main tactic should be keeping the ball as far away from these two as possible

Zero recollection of Lewis Buxton.

Howard, Beevers and Morais more than make up for the rest of that shit show though (excl. Karacan who was somewhere in between).

The other 3 are rapid, just not sure Burstow for Dalby makes any difference to the overall pace stats as both are slow. And that's not an issue, their game isn't pace, it's being in the right position for headers, chances in the box etc and tussling with centre backs.
