I don’t want to see Gale or Christie anywhere near it. It might be seen as negative, but seeing as we don’t have any wingers in form and / or fully fit, I’d go 352

Back 3 and wingbacks obvious

Sheehan

Dempsey Rodrigues

Dalby Kenny (if fit)

Burstow if Kenny isn’t fit

Possibly Ritchie if Dempsey isn’t fit - I’d rather have the rest of their team in their right positions than have to change it all for 1 injury.

Sure it’s “only” Stevenage ….. but they are a well organised outfit who are always hard to beat. Masters of the dark arts and physical (their #8 Phillips was awful at their place), so could be a very frustrating night where we need to be patient and be happy with a scrappy 1-0 or 2-1 win.

One of those games with no away fans and no atmosphere which emphasises why we need to get out of this god forsaken league.

You mean there are other types of wins? 😀

Let’s not build Stevenage up too much, they’re just a physical bunch but not really much more than that and if whoever starts for us plays to their strengths we’ll be far too good for them. They all know how important this one is and after Saturday if they’re not chomping at the bit to get out there and set things right then they should be ashamed of themselves and never pull on the White shirt again.

We all hope we'll turn up and be "too good" for someone but you know as well as me its unrealistic (as reflected in your comments on the other thread).  Certainly no more realistic than them turning up and being too good for us, like Wycombe were for 85 minutes.

For us to be too good for someone it needs to be an Exeter or Port Vale (at home), we've all seen enough of this team to know we have to scrape wins hoping for the rub of the green or moments of inspiration (cue ACD now that we can't call on CBT for a worldy).

Fingers crossed anyway because one way or another we need a win this week.

I have a feeling that ACD will start.

Not sure Dempsey has been right since his personal issue the other week, and I think he has definitely lost something since his unfortunate injuries. Came back well initially, but isn't the same now.

When fit/available...

Bonham
Tutu Toal Forino Johnston
Rodrigues Sheehan Erhahon
Duberry Dalby Kenny

4-3-3, 4-5-1, 4-3-2-1 etc etc call it what you want, but those eleven for me at the moment

Burstow, Cissoko from the bench later if/when needed

Gale & Apter can sit in West Upper.

More than happy to go with that team even though neither are full backs which has been SS biggest blunder.....And again i will go with any system apart from two wingers away.

If it dont work why do we keep repeating the same errors

Yeah, if we'd two proper full backs, they'd walk in to that team.

I thought Erhahon was out through injury.

Other than ACD, none of our other wingers should be anywhere near starting. With injuries we don’t have the midfield for a back four so for me it has to be a back five with Conway encouraged to get forward as much as possible but Johnston has to be instructed to stay back and cover that left side when he does instead of going missing and leaving wide open spaces. I’d leave Demps out and use Sheehan and Rodrigues in midfield. Hopefully Kenny will be fit but if not I’d be tempted to use Ritchie instead of Burstow who just doesn’t have the pace to run in behind alongside Dalby as Kenny does. Bring Mason on later if need be. We have to attack these tomorrow just sitting back is playing into their hands so positive heads on for all the players and let’s surprise Stevenage. Positive head for the manager too would help.

Why are Simons and Erhahon tackling each other so strongly in training at this stage of the season that it causes them both to miss several games?

Surely at this stage of the season all training should be keepy uppies and football volleyball with the odd game of wiff waff.

3 points please to put me in a better mood after one of the worst weekends of my life

That sounds rough mate. I’m hoping it is just football related.

But the essence of the post suggests not.

Hope all ok and the footy can give you some positive distraction

Plenty are already.

Yes and the twitchiest of all should be Schumachers because failure this season in such a weak league should result in a big fat goodbye.

Another reference to the league being weak.

We hear it every season, so by now it must be non-league standard.

For me, there is no evidence for it being weaker at all.

It's simply that we haven't been good enough to compete with those at the top each season.

Yep.

I'm convinced this has been part of our problems over recent seasons.

Injuries and fatigue are evident, so why are they going at it like this.

Big Sam was revolutionary in his approach to protecting players, yet it seems that it hasn't necessarily caught on.

Looking at our form and the various run ins, mine started to twitch a couple of months ago, but quite a few results have gone our way since which has largely negated the games in hand issue - apart from Stevenage  (and Stockport)

They know that if they turn us over they’ll be in the box seat, so we mustn’t lose, and a draw will keep us ahead on GD for now, but a win for us would settle nerves.

They are another hard working physical side and we know from experience that to beat them, we have to play high tempo, accurate football, but our lads have been struggling with hard pressing teams recently and our passing has suffered so we’re going to have to improve somehow.

It’s unlikely Argyle or Luton with their game in hand will bridge the gap to the playoffs but we only have 6 or 7 points cushion so we can’t afford to drop points and give them encouragement in our four remaining tough fixtures. I really don’t want to see our playoff spot riding on the final day clash with Luton - my ticker couldn’t take it - so let’s stop fannying about and get 3 more points on the board tomorrow night.

We need 6 points from 4 games

This is just one of the four.

We've been stuttering along trying to get going, id be happy if we didn't lose at the moment.

IF, we make the play-offs all before will not matter one jot.

I think it says it all when we are worried about beating Stevenage at home !!

We’d have said the same about Lincoln for the previous 3 seasons.

I’m beyond being a snob about who Bolton “should” be winning against.

This win is important, regardless of who it’s against.
