Leyther_Matt Posted May 2 Posted May 2 An outstanding fuck up, even by our standards. Managing to finish fifth in a season where we should really have gone up automatically and even on a final day when all we had to finish third was match everyone else’s result. Did well to get 2-1 up after maintaining our record of being the only club to get fiddled by a double-kick penalty, and should have been two or three goals clear by the hour mark. As so often this season, sleepwalked in to going level and then I suppose it was about time we conceded in stoppage time rather than the other way round. Best hope of getting to Wembley is to come out all guns blazing in what felt like a very unlikely scenario of a first leg at home and build up a decent lead before going over the hills. At least we didn’t end up having to go to Plymouth as looked likely at one stage. Quote

We had already qualified and had only professional pride to play for. They had absolutely nothing to lose. If third was a promotion place, I fancy we'd have been promoted already. Hmmmm,🤔. I'm just trying to remember where my hatred of Wolverhampton Wanderers came from. Quote
Lostock Whites Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) No need to have a meltdown, but obviously we all know our issues, particularly defensively. I'd like to hope in the play offs we wouldn't be as open, the games against Bradford have been quite tight. The 2nd leg at home would have been more ideal but let's be honest, non of it really matters. We finished 3rd last time and know what happened. Personally im happier facing Stevenage or Stockport in the final should we get there. We've played Bradford 3 times this season and we were the better side in every one of those games. We have the better squad and players so there's no point whatsoever after today sulking saying that we are shocking and that we will never go up. Especially after an utterly bonkers game with quite frankly the worst officiating I've ever seen, 2 penalties given to them and not one given to us that should've been, as well as giving them a free kick the second they touch the floor. Which is befitting of the standard seen all season long. Edited May 2 by Lostock Whites Quote

barrycowdrill Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Think we need to go there a couple up to minimise any fear. Course we can score anywhere but we know how we are defensively and they’ll chuck every sink in Bradistan they wash their feet in at us Quote
auckland_bwfc Posted May 2 Posted May 2 From which crypt did they find that ref? Fk me, some 80 year owd grandad chugging about trying to keep pace with athletes for 90 minutes. Embarrassingly bad. Hope he backed Luton 4-2 the useless sack of donkey jizz Quote
bwfc4ife Posted May 2 Posted May 2 We’ve missed Dalby massively these last two games, if he starts last weekend we win that game for me. Where we are now, we drop one of the wingers and lump Erhahon at CDM behind rogrigues and Sheehan with Dalby Kenny and ACD as a front three. We get overrun in midfield every week and just can’t see a game out, we need someone who can put a foot in Quote
Hoppy Posted May 2 Posted May 2 We had to play someone in the playoffs and it's Bradford not sure about any advantage in being at home second leg if we can win 3-1 at home that means Bradford will have to go for it at home and we are always capable of scoring, our problem is we are also very capable of letting goals in, a two goal lead though should do us.COYWM!! Nothing over the course of this seasons suggests we can beat Bradford convincingly at home and get anything there. Spent the past 3 months in 3rd and now fucked it with the uphill battle of having to go a packed Valley Parade and get summet. Just isn't happening and sums our inconsistent bullshit season in one hit today. Self destruct Wanderers. Not a fucking chance we are beating them over two legs. Fuckin wank Nowhere near as bad as that. You’re giving no credit to the team we were playing today which to be fair we could/should have beaten. They still have Championship quality players which we don’t so come on cut our lot some slack. Bradford aren’t a patch on Luton and whilst we could have won today let’s not forget that we were missing key players in Dalby, Johnston and Erhahon plus Kenny was really lacklustre today. Get those back and we’re a different team. I don’t see where all the negativity comes from, we’re in the play offs and whilst we all accept there are weaknesses in our team there are also some bloody big strengths as well. Quote
mickbrown Posted May 2 Posted May 2 That was fucking atrocious. Sloppy as fuck up front, just plain shit at the back Bonham is dogshit and the ref was the biggest cunt we’ve had this year. And Tthere’s not a fucking chance we’re winning the playoffs. Quote

Popular Post Leyther_Matt Posted May 2 Popular Post Posted May 2 Anyone criticising Rodrigues must have gone for an early pint and missed his pass for our second goal. A rare piece of quality for the afternoon. Quote
bwfc4ife Posted May 2 Posted May 2 The issue isn’t Rodrigues, it’s the 2 in the middle. We had the exact same problem last season with Sheehan/matete as a two. When Rodrigues goes forward and we lose the ball, it’s a piece of piss for the opposition to get in dangerous positions because neither can tackle for shit and you’re left with Sheehan protecting the back four on his own. Add in to that tutu and Conway bombing forward and there’s your problem. I noticed today that everytime we were breaking away, a Luton player either fouled one of ours or put a strong enough challenge in too knock them off balance causing us to give it away again. We’re too lightweight simple as that with only 2 in there. Quote

I'll be at both games hopefully and support them to the death. That today however has left us with a totally shit hand. I just don't trust us to do it. There's too much self implosion in us. Quote

Great finish from Tutu too but it doesn't mean he had a good game. Quote

Johnnyrotten Posted May 2 Posted May 2 A lot of praise for Luton, I thought they were surprisingly poor after a bright start. Coughed up possession in their own half countless times, I know we do that too, but nowhere near as much as they did. They were quite bright going forward in the 1st half granted but their main threat was their corners, (thanks to SS's defensive set up giving them all the room they wanted at the back post). 2nd half I couldn't believe my eyes that they needed to win and showed zero intention of going for it. Not one attack before they got a corner after 60 minutes and scored thanks to us. Then we could have had about 5 and they still hardly attacked. One attack and we let them score. Their defending was awful all day and it was just our poor finishing that stopped us getting a hatful, they were nowhere near the levels of Huddersfield, Stockport or Wycombe in recent home games. They are a decent team and considering they needed a win more than us I thought we matched them and a had real go at it. Quote
