I think the only possibly disappointing thing about TGM (I can live with the cheesey dialogue and mental mission plot) was that the pre release hype was on all the flight scenes being real, but there's actually loads of CGI in it and a fair amount of sped up or spliced shots that it didn't need.

Still though, it's pure entertainment, proper cinema stuff.

Watched Blue Story on Netflix last night, cracking film if you enjoy watching London gang stuff, couple of actors that were in Top Boy play a couple of major roles too.

New Predator trailer leaked (then removed an hour or so later). It looks okay but the Predator itself looks completely different. Oh well, it needs something new trying after the last shambolic disaster of a film.

This week on Netflix

71 - about a British soldier during the troubles who gets stranded on his own on the wrong side of Belfast, not bad

Midsommar - some mates visit this weird swedish village cult thing that's dark as fuck, bit gory, not bad

Boiling Point - Stephen Graham as a chef, done in one take, best of the three

Watched 'Dead Man's Shoes' tonight. I'd never heard of it until a couple of days ago. Available on demand on Channel 4. Fucking hell. Wasn't keen on the ending, but the previous 98% of it was superb.

Really?

It's been mentioned a few times on here and it's proper marmite

Me, I love it, saw it at the cinema when it first came out

@DazBob and @Traf are big fans too

If you liked it check out A Room For Romeo Brass as well

Love this scene

Dead Man's Shoes is an ok film made more famous by one very good scene.

I wasn't expecting the 'twist'. I'm glad I knew absolutely nothing about it before I watched it.

yeah but that's because you live in the east midlands and DMS is the only decent film to ever come from there

That was before I moved down, since then I'd say I liked it even if I didn't! Shane Meadows is revered here like Peter Kay was back home in the mid 2000s. Cult like 🤣

Watched the "new" Bond the other day. Was looking forward to going to the pictures to watch this but the film got pushed back that many times my excitement diminished.

Maybe I was expecting too much but for me this was the weakest of the Craig's. Im a big Bond fan so I will probably watch it again to reassess.

If Skyfall was a 10/10 this was a generous 5.5/10

Btw, I don't know how I managed it but up to watching it I knew absolutely nothing about the film.

I’ve watched ‘Operation Mincemeat’ tonight, a true story of British intelligence at its best in 1943 and the taking of Sicily to help with the fight against Hitler.   War is a game of chess and our lads pulled it off, a fabulous film of the battle of the brains, and the bloke at the centre of it was a tramp who died eating rat poison.   I recommend it, but I do love my WW2 films.
