Zico Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Argo - good stuff, well worth a watch, 7.5/10 Looper - was decent enough but kept nodding off and missed last half hour, read what happens at the end so dunno whether to watch last hour again It's also the 2nd film willis has done where he comes across his future self, and the other for 10 points? Maggie Tate Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Some non-arty shite foreign films recommendations: Flame and Citron - about Danish assassins during the Nazi resistance. Lots of nazis get the good news. City of Life and Death - harrowing WW2 drama makes the likes of Platoon look like Uncle Buck A Prophet - crime/gangster/prison drama thriller, some good numbers on the soundtrack too Mesrine films obviously Infernal Affairs - The Departed is an inferior rip off of this The Secret In Their Eyes - recommend this one with bells on. Argentine cold case type thriller. I would recommend my favourite film of 2012 which is called Tabu, but that is way too arty :-) Oh and Holy Motors but that is even more artier! Whoever wanted a horror recommendation, French flick called Switchblade Romance. Seriously, take a punt. Also known as High Tension if you are acquiring it from, erm, reputable sources. Quote
Casino Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 may as well chuck la haine in, too for anybody who has missed earlier posts on the subject Quote
burndenpaddock Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Watched Flight tonight, not what I was expecting at all, denzel Washington is excellent as a cocaine snorting alcoholic pilot. Good film, quite dark in parts Quote
DazBob Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Watched Dredd last night - my birthdays are soooo rock n roll these days. Decent enough and don't let the wank Sly Stallone one from a few years back put you off. Wafer thin plot, but good brain-dead action with some cracking special effects. 6.75/10 Quote

Smiley Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Watched "Dream House" last night with Daniel Craig. 4/10. Not what I was expecting. Got confused. Had to seriously think what the feck was going on. Unravel it and then kind of enjoy it. But shite ending. Rachel Weisz is fit though. Quote
Zico Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Seven Pyschopaths was good, funny, tried to be a bit to clever for it's own good but a got a good random storyline going on and it's got sam rockwell and christopher walken in it, so it's good by default Quote
