fester58 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 having watched wanderers home and away over the last 35 years i finally had enough of goingto the reebok watching premiership football ive met some top top people and had some great times but the reebok and premiership football is shit. at the end of last season i went with a few other whites to watch chorley, what a breath of fresh air, standing on a terrace no police/stewards telling you what to do, decent competitive football, you can smoke on the terrace. the best bit about it is they play to win every week. they leave men on the half way line when the other team have a corner i'll always want the wanderers to win and love the club, but from now on its non league football all the way

fester58 Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 no its not just todays result, the stoke semi final pushed me over the edge, people go on about the premiership being the best league in the world its no better than scotland were only 2 teams can win it. i'll never slag a wanderers fan who still goes in week in week out but ?25/?30 for a game of football is too much and the wages there on a scandolous. when chorley played at whitby the other week after the match the chorley manager (gary flitcroft) when in there social club and bought all the chorley fans a drink thanking them for there support, i couldnt even imagine a modern day player being allowed to socialise near fans nevermind buy them a drink.

Stewy_Baby Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 people go on about the premiership being the best league in the world its no better than scotland were only 2 teams can win it. Absolutely agree 100%, had this discussion with people at work and they think because four teams have won the Premier League it makes it more competitive than the SPL, yet they fail to realise the SPL has half the teams so it's exactly the same...
Guest bwfcdan Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I won't lie, the piss up today at Scotts was better than it's been in a long time. Maybe it's because we were drowning our sorrows?? Forget the game, that was utter shite, other than that, it's been a good doo. Roll on Arsenal next week
beer_swiller Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Never compare the Premier league with Scottish football as that`s a fuckin joke. Spanish league again will be contested by two clubs, plus the points difference in that league from second club to third will be massive. It wont be in this league. Again it`s all down to money, Megson was backed more than Coyle will ever be, trouble is Megson spent it all. To be honest, Fester aint the only fan with similar feelings, Iv`e had them for years but still remain on the season ticket list. One thing that DOES stand out is the lack of commitment from certain players. Midfield is painfully woeful and I for one would re-instate Muamba if only for his enthusiasm. It`s too early to fear the worst but the warning signs are clearly evident.

Citeh, Manyoo, Chelski are all going to be challenging for the top spot, Liverpool and even arsenal will be up there too. the SPL and La Liga come down to who gets the better results in the derby's that's not taking into account the massive financial gap between the old firm /Barca & Real and the rest of the league, although the gap is big in the prem it's nowhere near the same scale as elsewhere

superkev Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Barca and real get about 100 mill more tv revenue than the next club. That is just unfair and the gap is too big

leigh white Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Been watching Non League for yonks, but if i had the money, i would always follow the Whites, i do get to a few games over the season. Just saving up for the piss up in Wiggin in October.

I agree the odd Non League sounds OK trip on the train to some little town/village visit the local real ale pubs and meander back home, but maybe an option now and again but are you really going to throw 35 years of watching Bolton down the drain, we have had some fantastic occasions and games, and there will be more to come.
Mike Hunt Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 C86 trying to get me to give it a go. Does sound tempting for the odd game, but I support Bolton and don't think I could ever have the same passion and support for any other team. Will likely give it a go at some stage, but imagine it would be strange watching and supporting a team that is not Bolton.
birch-chorley Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) Got to agree with Mounts Chorley have been shite for years and years up until last season, the cycle will run its course round and they will go shit again. What will you do then move clubs again? Thats the attitude that half of the DMB have and I am sure as you have been a bwfc fan for so long you are above that. Lets wipe our mouths and move on, we have got 2 more shitty fixtures to come before we have a good run of games to build confidence and momentum. Stick with it a few more months pal it will come good! Edited September 18, 2011 by birch-chorley
MickyD Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 You may as well be changing your allegiance to Man U, City, Liverpool or Everton, Wigan, Blackburn or PNE as change it to Chorley. All of them are fairly local. You have no geographical tie with any of them. It's Bolton or nothing for me.
Casino Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 indeed 'choosing' to support chorley is no better than picking united
no balls Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I have to agree with the majority on this thread. I live on the Chorley border but really wouldn't go as I have no allegience to them & find it most odd that Bolton born and bred folk are bobbing over the border to watch Chorley. Still each to their own if they want even though I dont understand the logic behind it.
