Not in Crawley Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Cold and wet in South East Laaaandon. Heating's just gone on - its a week until May! Quote
Sweep Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Pissing it down and utterly freezing here in the Shires.....likewise, heating has just been flicked on again, it'll be a toasty 22C in here shortly Quote

FrancisFogarty Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Rain was drip drip dripping through the roof over my seat five minutes after it started Saturday. Quote
Winchester White Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Hate this weather, sunny one minute, rain the next and repeat. Bastard grass and dandelions love it so my piss wet through muddy back garden looks like shite and will take an age to mow when finally dry enough. Grrr. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Get it cut. Be too long soon and will remain damp low down meaning it will be a shitty cut anyway. Rough cut now, highish setting. Repeat in a few days on a lower setting. Sorted. Quote

Cheers for the advice, will do it tomorrow lunchtime on top setting then hopefully a bit lower on Wednesday before it rains again. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 I did a lawn over the weekend that was really lush and high. Dry on top, but wet underneath. Even on top setting, it kept clogging the mower, and I had to keep clearing it by hand. It also results in tearing of the grass, which isn't good. I'll do it again tomorrow and it will be bob on. Still looks good even a bit longer than normal. Quote
Not in Crawley Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Or sow a wildflower lawn like we did this year - looking great already and getting loads of butterflies and bees which is good to see. Quote

If the wife moans, send her out to cut it. Quote

Ended up borrowing a verticutter and reseeding it. Was dead impressed with myself 😃 Quote

globaldiver Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 Having walked every day for the last 10 years or so, the thing I notice about the weather is that we seem to get more wind than hitherto. Don’t know if this is the case, @gonzo? Quote

Don’t know if this is the case, @gonzo? Definitely is pal. Like any other weather systems the averages as well as the extremes are getting greater. Rising sea temps spazzing up atmospheric pressure and traditional cylces. We seem to have had a lot of east winds here over the past few months. We get used to a generic west wind over this way so its really noticeable when the wind changes. Quote
