I think England winning the World Cup is a greater achievement than bolton winning promotion

If you compared the WC to bolton winning the prem or probably more likely the FA cup then it's BWFC every time, but they're once in a lifetime experiences. I've witnessed Bolton going up a league 4 times and whilst that's superb it wouldn't compare to an FA cup or WC win

There is no comparison for me it hurts when Bolton lose and the joy when we win is superb, it's simply not the same when England play done a few England games and can't say I can cope with the testerone not rights who support England.

Correct

Got in to an argument with southern based United and Liverpool fans over this. Bolton for me not even close, I like England to win but it's not the same. They wanted me thrown out of the country. I explained they don't have the same connection with their club which went down well.

We (BWFC) are more local than DMBs and Scousers and more in touch with our club. Their fans come from all over the place whereas Bolton fans, with a few exceptions tend to live here.

In answer to the question, Bolton success is still more likely than an England success. I go Bolton all the way.

I'd like to see England do well in a 'good on them' sort of way, but I struggle to be really arsed. Whereas I'm very arsed about Bolton Wanderers.

I remember during Euro 96 when a genuine football supporter (don't know which team) who'd been to the games said on radio he was getting pissed off with explaining the offside rule to folk called Rupert and Jemima who had St Georges Cross painted on their faces and were singing 'football's coming home'.. Sums it up really. Probably different away tbf.

Italia 90, Euro 96, France 98 (that argie game) I got right into it

Passion for England has diminished since then due to shocking underachievement and a lack of entertainment

Woah woah woah

Underachievement?

Entertainment?

Irrelevant

me claiming to be an england fan is like some surrey based scrote with his red sharp shirt on claiming to be a united fan

i have never and probably will never spend my hard earned on watching england

i want them to win but theyre not 'my team'

I don't hate England, I'm a bit ambivalent about it all now, but I do hate how the World Cups bring out the clueless knobbers once every 4 years to wax lyrical about the beautiful game.

Oh and if Greg Dyke's stupid fucking B league starts to interfere with my club in an attempt to improve the national squad, I could quite happily start hating England

Want England to do well of course but it's nowt like supporting Bolton for me. The last World Cup probably finished me off enthusiasm wise. Slovenia, Algeria & USA three of the most boring England games ever at a World Cup, what a non event.

Still love the World Cup but have long since accepted we are not very good and that's not spoiling it for me this time.

Equal for me. Love the club and love the country. Absolutely no doubt living away makes both much more intense and meaningful.

Some very proud moments following my club. Was an amazing feeling to be in attendance when my country won a World Cup.

I hate this topic

Of course its Bolton over England

But you don't have to fucking choose

Its your club team and national team

It is ok to support both

I hate the twats who think its cool to hate England its the trait of a Munich and a scouser

Come on England

Nailed it there Garrpo

It's too easy to be a cynic when it comes to this

Mind, I hate it when you watch England in the boozer and there's women screaming at the TV and arguing about what's going on when they've no fucking idea! It's like trying to debate with Casino

No one has mentioned it so I will.

The knock on economic effects of a World Cup win, resulting from the so called 'feel good' factor, are significant. For this reason alone I would like to see England win it.

Being realistic, not likely to happen again in my lifetime but somersaulting around the front room in '66 will live with me for ever (Jonny Wilkinsons kick landing a few rows in front of me in 2003 also will).

I remember going to the pub for the Euro 96 semi and getting there good and early to get a good vantage point. About 5 minutes into the game some daft bint tapped me on the back and asked if I could crouch down a little as she couldn't see the screen.

Erm, Bolton by a mile. Don't care who wins world cup. Will watch the lot like. First week of it off work, decorating house during day and games 5-1am thereafter

Spoken like a true Welshman!
