You woudln't rock up to Currys for a 65'' telly and pay £2k if you knew that they'd go bust next week and you could get it for £500. Now multiply that by 1000. Next week there will be queues out of the door trying to pick up a 65" TV at the bargain price of £500. Because they can't meet demand they decide to auction it off to the highest bidder. Joe bloggs reckons he can buy it and get at least £1900 for it, even if just stripping it down and using it for parts. So he bids £1800 for it and you end up with nothing.
