desperado Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Yes It was Steven Thompson at the BN who broke it. Iles was quiet, Nixon originally dismissed it http://m.theboltonnews.co.uk/news Quote
Ani Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Big 48 Hours for the takeover. As for Iles, when the stories on the takeover where at their height and the ST was being set, we played away at Sheff Weds, our local news hound tweeted that he was just about to set to the match after a busy day....................painting a bedroom at home. Now really the relentless pursuit of the story you here about. Magnolia I would guess btw. Quote
kent_white Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Iles doesn't write the headlines - that's the sub editors job. Reporters report - sub editors try to make the story grab your attention when you might only be giving the paper a cursory glance. Iles is what he is. A local sports reporter for a small regional publication with an ever decreasing print circulation who are caught between a need to pull in readers and a need to keep Wanderers (who represent a large source of material that their readers want to know about as well as advertising revenue) onside. I sympathise with the BEN because it's a narrow line between being labelled the club's sycophantic mouthpiece and not being allowed into the ground for printing a negative story. Quote
Carlos Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Call me churlish but he got caught up in the ST hype. He repeatedly namechecked BWFC websites but (purposely?) omitted WW yet mentioned sites that aren't as busy as some of our threads. So I'm classing him as a cunt. He won't read that anyway as he's unaware of our existence. Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 The ST have issued a statement repeating the news of a takeover this Friday .The tone is quite defeatist & says they are still awaiting a reply from ED . Seems it's not them who are getting the nod then. Quote
Carlos Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 And my last point, it's only a matter of time before the ST announce BWFCForum to be their official forum. Quote
gonzo Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Saw it all over this way with Will Wyatt and the Oystons. Journo questions what's going on at club. Journo gets fuck all info to sell papers for the foreseeable. It's nothing new. Quote

Tony Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I do get the strong impression that ED is not the easiest person to deal with. Quote
mickbrown Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Regarding the ST. I ain't signed up, so they don't speak for me and looking at the numbers of folk who have signed up they don't speak for the majority of folk who turn up week in week out either. So their unfounded sense of entitlement is starting to grate a wee bit. Seems like the trust expect to be given the club because they are 'true supporters'. Doesn't work like that chaps. Quote

Carlos Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I'd imagine he's very easy if you have a large amount of money to put into the club. I dunno. I made the point about he ST when people were signing up the Aunt Ethel and the dog as members. They don't represent me either. Quote
gonzo Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Wonder if Peter Kenyon has a link with Trevor Birch?? Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 At the moment the supporters trust don't represent any fans, there has been no election, no membership fee taken meaning no one is a member. Quote

Doesn't work like that chaps. from the updates they've sent out (and that's the only dialogue I've had from them, i.e. i didn't attend the meeting or owt), it all seems nothing more than a transparent update of what's going on, see email below my only question is - do I still have to pay up if they don't get in? UPDATE: In Light of Events, Announcements & Social Media Posts Over The Past 24 Hours The Bolton Wanderers Supporters' Trust understands that there may be a decision by the end of this week from the owner regarding the sale of the club. The statement made by the Trust on 28 January 2016 and posted on our website is still current. To date there has been no answer received. The Steering Group wish to reiterate that we are still working towards the full establishment of the Trust and that we want to reinforce our commitment to the objectives and aims as referenced on many occasions, namely to obtain the maximum possible say for the supporters in the ownership and governance of BWFC. Whatever decision is made by Mr Davies by the end of this week, or in the future, we would confirm that the Trust will remain consistent in its aims and will use best endeavours to react in the interests of the supporters and the club. Stability and sustainability for the club will be uppermost in any future engagement with any interested party. Quote

burndenpaddock Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) Kenyon replaced Birch at Chelsea History to repeat? I'd be very surprised if Kenyon stepped down from his role at a leading European club in La Liga for a role at a club bottom of the championship and potentially in league 1 next season. Just can't see it myself. Edited February 17, 2016 by burndenpaddock Quote
