Who on God's green earth is telling you how to dress? You are punching thin air with this. Or to put it another way, would you like to live in a fairer, more equitable society? Quote

Spider Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 We put union jacks on our products in the factory. We also have union jacks on our marketing material and proudly tell the market that we are British owned & run. Last time I checked, no-one had been arrested for far right hate crimes, but we're expecting a knock on the door soon... Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) Shouldn't you put Turkey's flag on too? In fact why not put on the flag of Hamas? The money you hand over for your precious copper probably ends up funding this... Edit: I reckon that ^ would be a cheap and easily sourced fancy dress outfit for a kid... I might assemble a few and stick 'em on Ebay around Halloween. Edited March 11, 2021 by Youri McAnespie Quote

So long as they don't get carried away and start asking us to form a trading bloc with the IRA, Al-Qaeda, ETA, Shining Path, Hezbollah and the People's Front of Judea. Though I reckon a buying group with that kind of influence and ready cash would be pretty formidable and would already have its own army to ward off any threats. Quote
Spider Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Anyway Another victory for the EU: In essence, everything coming in from the EU is just being waved through. Those of us exporting still have to go through a mire of paperwork (I'm currently organising some exports to Poland and it's like preparing the defence for a corporate fraud trial). This is a massive disadvantage to UK exporters. Quote

This is a massive disadvantage to UK exporters. Wife's little business has virtually lost all of its EU trade since January because of costs levied at the delivery point, that is one third of the total. If the US start doing the same (we don't have a trade deal yet) that will be another third and she will have to pack in, the UK market is lower margin as they only want it cheap and tend to buy Chinese crap. US orders are going well at the moment thanks to Harry & Meghan, no such thing as bad publicity. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Escobar's running a relief scheme for small businesses affected by our withdrawal from the EU. 😀 Quote

I’m desperate for sponges and magic trees. and a victory? If it was the other way round folk would be apoplectic about it and Boris would again be the worst kind of human. Could she not do an apprenticeship with @Mounts Kipper or one of the many, many new industries that have popped up? Transport costs are just an opportunity. Not sure who for, because the transport companies I've spoken to haven't got a good word to say about all this and their prices have doubled whilst margins are down. See it as an opportunity etc,. Controlling our borders, as I understood it, wasn't just waving lorries full of smuggled people and contraband through. I assumed we wanted that to stop. I'll wait for the spin that says this is all great though :-) Quote

Especially haulage companies Quote

I suspect from what’s being said checks on actual goods and paperwork is slightly lax but we need to get the goods in. It will tighten up but doing so means we have the same problems on import and export. It’s a lose lose situation currently until it gets sorted out. Quote

Dimron Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 She has a workshop in the garden and works with Morano glass, mainly making the beads and findings for others to make jewellery with. She buys the raw material from a bloke in Hull but so far all good on bringing the goods into the UK. Problem is when her packages are delivered to jewellery makers in the EU, a relatively massive surcharge is now payable by the customer (not sure whether its VAT or Duty of some sort). We're now down to one customer in Germany who is going to place fewer larger orders in the future. Quote

The EU are happy sending their goods to us with zero hassle ✅ The EU are controlling their imports which in turn is making EU members buy off each other rather than the UK ✅ The UK has had 5 years to prepare for this absolute certainty ✅ Quote
