In a nutshell. The usual attack line- "Tory cost of living crisis" blah blah blah. That would mean they're in power everywhere across the world that has suffered the same issues! OK, different governments will address their own issues individually, and that will result in different outcomes, but it is far more complex than often portrayed. Here, the bank of England needs to take a good luck at itself, for its refusal to slightly increase rates years ago, when they were warned about impending pressures, but didn't respond. The upshot, together with a European war, was sudden rate rises to cope with inflation. To blame such things on brexit is completely erroneous. Look at America's response to it all- Biden introduced an act- much to the chagrin of other world leaders- to combat it over there. Some initial success (Spider was wanking himself off over the States' performance) but it is now biting back. Their inflation is going back up again. Just shows there is no guaranteed quick fixes, whichever approach is taken, by any government. Clearly some feel tax cuts etc earlier here would have pulled us up quicker, they may be right or may be wrong, but we are slowly heading in the right direction. Whoever forms the next governments the world over is still going to have to continue the recovery work, whilst paying down accrued debt following the covid crisis, whilst dealing with current and emerging threats from Russia, Iran etc. Not out of the woods yet. They didn't all go up overnight either. Liz Fucking Truss shat on loads of folk with mortgages, even Sunak told her so before she was outlasted by a bloody lettuce. Quote

Just one will do. Probably not a great deal of difference either way yet. Some benefits some downsides. It's just over 3¼ years since we left, and went through a pandemic at the same time. Negatives would always arrive first, then slowly benefits build. Recently the uk has moved up the manufacturing league and is also now increasing exports. In other aspects we still need to improve. No one thought it would be instant beds of roses, but it's far too early to discern either way. Quote

Well we haven't. And we had plenty of control in the first place. We've just given a shit load up. Anyway, still not one solution or benefit.... Edited May 15, 2024 by gonzo Quote

Spider Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 Brexit was supposed to improve things. As a bare minimum. It hasnt. Its indisputable. The ruddy of cheek are just living on the victory. The ramifications are utterly irrelevant. Victory. Victory. Victory. Quote
