It is on the wrong side of London, should be on the east. Heathrow is now a hub and passengers pass through changing flights... the only benefit will to from the Costa and Sockshop franchises in the transit lounges. Expanding freight hubs like EMA might do the trick but carbon offsets will take their toll Quote

Winchester White Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 Heathrow needs a third runway. A bit shit for those who have to move or probably even worse under a new flight path. Just saying it will take too long is silly imo. Quote

They've been talking about it for as long as I can remember - it probably does, but even if they started building it tomorrow, it'll be pushing 15/20 year before it's complete, and it'll go wildly over budget. The UK just isn't very good, generally, at these major infrastructure things anymore (probably because we do things by the book.....and you can couple that with the fact that we're fucking lazy 😁) Quote

I think if it's not the business airport in the world, it must be quite close (I'd guess Dubai or Istanbul is probably the busiest now) I know, they spoke for a while about just building a new airport over the other side of London, I don't know why that has now been totally discounted (they probably found some newts or something) Quote

Yeah, when all they needed was a couple of hangars and some lights. The runway isn't the time consuming bit. It's the surrounding infrastructure that goes with being one of the busiest airports on the planet. Quote

Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta 2. Dubai 3. Dallas Fort Worth 4. Heathrow Quote

I think Boris J resurrected the idea for a while Quote
