If she is this stubborn about it, has she been just as stubborn behind closed doors to the EU, and this really is the only deal we could get?

We can’t leave the customs union and have a soft border in Ireland.

It really is that simple.

I reckon she feels that she has a deal that can fly with the public, so is reaching over MPs

That's how I saw her press conference.

I think she was also appealing to industry that has been complaining of a lack of information and clarity. Some semblance of continuity for them.

Whichever way it goes, I think she'll go before the next election.

Has anyone on here read the actual deal?

growing number of business leaders are saying it’s pretty good.

As is normal these days, people just want something to object to so they can win the online pissing contest.

maybe, just maybe, this deal could work and allow things to get rolling, whilst negotiations continue as time moves on.

Heard a few comments along those lines. Seems to be the potential for being locked in that's a concern. Not sure how realistic that is, perhaps the language is vague.

I'm sure, going off her conference, that her belief is that given time, when the full details are scrutinised, that more will come on board.

my take on it was the backstop was the real issue but that only comes into the equation if we don't negotiate a trade deal with the EU. If we are confident we can get a trade deal then the backstop doesn't come into it
