Mental Health/Depression

For those that questioned why I didn’t attend the game last Saturday, this was why. My daughter asked me to go to the Pride parade with her, have a few drinks, a meal, and generally have a catch up on her life and her website project. She doesn’t live with me so I don’t see her that often so face to face time is very valuable

I’ve highlighted one particular part of her social media post from today. That is a nod to WWays. She was stunned by the response from here. I thank all of you that contributed feedback once again for your support.......

As some of you may remember, a year ago I set up a website that allows people to submit and share their personal stories regarding mental health, encouraging people to use their voice and realise that they're not going through this alone.

The response I received was absolutely insane. That insane in fact, that I shut it down after a few months as I couldn't cope with managing the website alongside my own mental health.

But now I'm back 💥 I'm in a better place with my mental health, I'm currently in the process of purchasing my first home, and next week I start my dream job as a Teaching Assistant in a special educational needs school.

So I've decided to relaunch my project. A website where you can anonymously submit your mental health story, in the form of poetry, short stories, song lyrics, or simply anything that expresses you.

Read all 46 pages of this thread last night.  Rang doctors first thing this morning, and got GP appointment.  Now hooked up with referral to a couple of support services.  You don't know me, but

You can allegedly pick them for free on the hills above Bolton when they're in season. Allegedly there's tons of them in the fields above Entwistle Reservoir across to Belmont - which are dotted with weird blokes carrying plastic bags and staring at the ground or so I've heard.

And you can allegedly dry them out in a low oven to last all year round.

I wouldn't know anything about that sort of thing.

....never had an air fryer.

Is that a euphemism 😐

My mate says don't cook em, you'll ruin the potency.

Put them in some boiled water that's cooled slightly with the squeezed juice of a full lemon (actual lemon, not a FLOOR WIPE). Let it rest for 20 mins and stir occasionally.

The liquid is enough. But can eat the mushrooms too.

The citrus eases the nauseous effects of of eating the mushrooms.

ALLEGEDLY.

Vimto was traditional in these parts, lemon juice sounds like a craft beer approach.

If you think it’ll help, go for it. I can listen, I can tell you what I’d do in similar circumstances.

If you read into it there's no real evidence it works. There's a 4(3 maybe) parter on Netflix about psilocybin, LSD, MDMA being used in a therapeutic context but it isn't backed up if you look more.into it.

Folk in Silicon Valley swore by microdosing for a while but it was more a "cool" fad than owt.

The drug science podcast goes into stuff like this in great detail and it implies their is plenty of evidence microdosing works. The biggest issue in the uk is the cost of studies and restrictions due to the police / laws

I'm glad we're all waiting for the scientific community to publish their fully researched studies before we take any of these dangerous drugs.

Fucking hell!

Looks a bit like my spine but I didn't break it, was just born with a wonky one.

Fucking hell, when he’s finally able to take the kids on a summer holiday he’ll have to set off for security at Christmas.

Gout hurts more

Once got bollocked at work when someone returned from maternity and, as usual, everyone was fawning over the baby pictures.

She then went on to regale tales of how long she was in labour and how much it hurt.

I looked across and said, “Hurt? Have you ever stood on a Lego brick? That’s hurt!

With you on that.

Looking forward to my post Xmas bout

Had gout earlier this year. Far worse than any child birth could possibly be.

Meccano brings back some memories! As does nearly choking to death on a piece of Lego as a kid, quick thinking from my dad… not quite the Heimlich manoeuvre – more of a Marvin Hagler punch in the back and ribs to make me vomit it up!

Back on track anyway with the mental health. My 50-day fitness plan reached day 50 this morning. Definitely hit a plateau last couple of weeks and started to lose my way with some of the diet, but pretty much kept off the bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, chocolate, cake and crisps as much as possible. Had a few dry nights out and did stare in desperation at the Mrs when she ordered sticky toffee pudding in a restaurant and I had fresh air!

Stats for anyone interested….

Monday 10th October - 8am
Stomach 98cm
Chest 98cm
Bottom 100cm
Left thigh 60.5cm
Weight 13st 8.6lb

Tuesday 29th November - 7.30am
Stomach 91cm
Chest 95cm
Bottom 97cm
Left thigh 58cm
Weight 12st 4.2lb

Fucked my knee running on Sunday, so my plan to run an Ultra this week is now off the table (plus stacked out with work). But I’ve made a promise to myself to run one before the year is out… gives me a few more weeks to prepare. Did get up to 16 miles on a hilly trail run, so would need to double that. Head wants to, body doesn’t.

great stuff mate.

Powerful new campaign video from SAMH. They've just paid over £900,000 for an advert slot when Corries on so hopefully it will be pretty well seen by January.

Just ask. Ask Them About Suicide | SAMH
