It’s all very cunty this criticism of plans

One party is doing what they can. It’s the unknown and all the criticism comes in hindsight. It would be the same the other way around and it’s really not a political issue.

All leaders , Rushi, and the scientists get in a room and vote anonymously on a plan. Stick to it, review and change if needed.

Not time for political division it’s the time for united action

I notice Green hasn’t actually troubled the PM with his thoughts on what WILL work.

Easy to snipe from the sides innit ?

Starmer has done just that and today his first pearl of wisdom  is let’s lockdown properly. I think in time history will say he should have shut up.

if I was boris I would concede and say ok let’s do it as you wish.

Fair enough if you feel they have half a chance of sorting it

I dont think they have

Id prefer 3 weeks hit to the economy over this drip drip fucking drip

So given what you heard on here  yesterday about interactions with our track and trace app you think that’s the saviour yes? Sort that we can all get on with life again?

would it help? Massively. Are we a nation with significant numbers of bellends and nut jobs that will make it impossible anyway? Absolutely.

Doesn't have to be an app. I reckon that's been half the problem to be honest. Trying to centralise it all.  Local health authorities should have been in charge.

And a properly functioning system would outweigh the effects of the undoubted bellends.

Starmer has at least offered an option on what he thinks we should do.

Green is just sulking because he’s out of the spotlight.

Personally, I think a lockdown is coming and government are just giving us one last chance to prove we still have the Blitz spirit.

Spoiler alert. We haven’t.

Nah bollox. They've been 'led by science' apparently from the off. Now they're shown they are ignoring the science they need the opposition to hold them to account. That their job.

Starmer was saying, only last week, that lockdowns weren’t working. Now he’s all for it, presumably because SAGE said it.

premature move from him, I suspect.

Not a time for politics, as @Rudypoints out

20% of care home residents not tested in last 3 months

Govt said all residents and staff would be tested monthly

They also said we'd have a world beating track and trace system by the end of June.

We had a 3 month lockdown. Numbers went down. We came out and they rose again. It happened all over the world. A 3 week lockdown would be useless and economically catastrophic.

Exactly, but you are not allowed to criticise bozo and pals. You should know that.

Scientists aren’t interested in the economy, despite their thin platitudes in that direction at their briefings.

Stop that now, it’s very unfair to expect them to get a track and trace that works with only 12 billion.

I think one of the reasons the public ignore advice is because they don’t support the politician who his delivering the advice. It shouldn’t be the case, a top scientist should be the leader of this ungodly mess. We’ll sort out the politics another time.

Is there any information showing how effective other nations' test track and trace systems are performing?

Unfortunately, I've read that systems vary greatly so might be difficult to compare as with deaths/cases, however it still would be interesting to see if anyone manages a significantly highly number of traces.

Hancock claimed today that other nations were coming to him and asking how we'd built our system so quickly.

it depends if any measures were introduced during that time to make it work on the other side

if they just open up again and ease people back into the same situations, then yeah, it probably won't work

but if the game is upped in terms of track, trace, test and ensuring covid compliance in places that need to be, we might have a chance

otherwise, we just going round in circles till a vaccine, imo
