Obviously I’m being facetious 😊

but these restrictions are only in place to suppress the spread as we know. I think it’s late felt accepted that spread will happen at work but not in anything like the way it does socially.

Because 90% of folk behave at work.

Its absolutely awful to say, but I think it’ll be tier 3 all the way until spring.

I agree, this thing isn't going anywhere, and depending on what happens November/December/January when seasonal flu joins in as well, it could get a lot worse than Tier 3, with extra draconian restrictions being put in place on a geographical basis at certain trigger points

As for the kids, can we not just write off this entire academic year? - instead of leaving school at 16, everybody in the system at the minute will be required to school/educate until they're 17. That gets around them making exam results up like they did last year. Kids still go to school, and so do the teachers, but this year is just treated as a "bonus" bit of extra education, so if kids are off and isolating, which they will be, they won't actually fall behind in the school work required for their exams

so

who's making plans for Christmas Day?

I'd happily have my immediates round, from 3 different households, as I basically know where they've been

I was kinda hoping my in-laws would be barred from our gaff :D

You obviously aren't aware of the massive operation involved in setting and marking exams for two cohorts. They'll be fucked if they have to do it for 4.

He doesn’t want Tier 3

Neither of them do, but they both want the money for doing so. Another even stood up and said what a strange situation to find them all in agreement that more money was needed.

Making such a song and dance about it all has now proved pointless.

Be interesting to see if they now split, some saying the money should have been accepted.

How do you know it’s been pointless?

Sadly the mayorship to often falls into jumped up little wannabes. Let them wear a chain for ceremonial purposes but shut the fuck up.

Are we in danger of confusing a ceremonial mayor  (chains of office, etc.) and elected leader of a devolved area. (No chain, in charge of many local services, put up for election by a political party)

What do you think the people of greater Manchester have got out of the last few days Jules?

because that’s surely what this should be about solely the people impacted by this yes?

I would be interested to know what you believe you’ve all got from it?

You are aware negotiations have ended. Tier 3 to be imposed. Therefore he's not getting his 65 or 72 million. Meanwhile, in the 10 days or so, the numbers keep rising. Cracking work.

And more cases but genuinely for those who have been supporting his stance I would like to know what has actually been gained for the general public? Burnham has gained a few more supporters, his name is more well known and greater Manchester has had a few more drinking hours  and an inevitable rise in case numbers. Outside of that a simpleton like myself is struggling to see what else has been gained from it?

One of you more clever folk enlighten me please?

Ian watson just reporting that under our tier 3 pubs serving a substantial meal can still stay open. Not sure if this is true, but it means fewer businesses affected than I thought.

South Yorks reported to be talking now, as tier 3 might be happening.

Gymns too.

Probably, though tier 3 has a 28 day sunset clause, so has to be re enacted each time.
