Would be no surprise if government ducked the 16th  & pushed it back to January to keep London open.

I fear you could be right Mounts. I have a vision of the blond buffoon making what he will perceive as a Churchillian speech  in mid Dec “ We are winning the battle, therefore we must continue the good work over the festive period and together we will win this war ” whilst London continues to take the piss in Tier 2.

not saying it's right or fair, but aren't there other factors involved too?

looking at the graph, manchester was on the up, london on the decline

but there's something like 5 factors at play

(one of the probably being if you stood up for yourself during tier 3 negotiations)

The country needs to stay in Tier 3 to protect London. 😉

London is staying open to save the country. The yuppies are working their hardest so the north are protected and can get back to mining, and the factories ASAP.

I'm sure you can all wait another month or so for a pint, what's the rush? - just stay in T3 until January, and protect the rest of us in the UK, then you can drink as much as you want after that in T2 (as long as you're having a substantial meal of course)

Correct as always. Folks greed is potentially going to ruin it for the rest of us. Tier 3 until next year is the only sensible way forward here

I’m quite happy to wait till January. It’s the businesses that are suffering that I feel for. As I said earlier, the financial compensation is inadequate for what is their busiest time of year.

aye, I just hope as many businesses can cling on (and folk keep their jobs) as possible, because once the vaccine rolls out and folk can get out and about again, there will no doubt be some sort of boom as society makes up for lost time with a "you only live once attitude"

Pubs under Tier 2 are bollocks anyway. Not many have picked up on no mixing of households unless you're outside, when you still have to have a Scotch Egg.

we're in T2 here, most pubs haven't bothered opening, there is absolutely no point. As you say, the fact that you can't mix households on tables ruins it anyway.

There is talk, and I'm not sure I believe it, but of lot of areas dropping a tier, at the next review. That will be great for around here, as we'll go T1, but for most of you lot, it'll make next to fuck all difference in a reality if you drop from T3 to T2

The article talks about the other factors too.

Uses the headline grabbing bit first.

The other thing, is that the decision as to what tier places will be in will have been decided on figures a few days old.

The actual numbers on December 2nd will have come out later.

However, come the 16th, the figures that are now showing us to be lower will be a big positive.

mrs gone in to work today, her colleagues mum is in an induced coma

got cancer, shielded for 9 months, had some gynecological bleeding, went in friday for a biopsy, caught it, now in coma (and her husband has caught it too)

fingers crossed and all that, but if she doesn't come round, it's another covid death for sure, regardless of underying conditions, and why it's just so incredibly difficult to shield the vunerable - forced visits to hospital are, in my experience, basically a death sentance for them, or they can just stay at home, and become one of the excess lot

The "other factors" pretty much mirror what the amount of new infections are doing - ie new infections rise, then so do older folks Covid cases + more hospital beds taken up, therefore more pressure on the NHS etc, new infections decrease - all other factors decrease.

Not the sensible way forward for thousands and thousands of business's already on their arse.

It was tongue in cheek. I’m hoping for everybody sense prevails and the huge decrease in numbers leads to sensible relaxations

Did you know the flu vaccine given by the NHS is not licensed in the UK or approved by MHRA ?

I'm assuming that's because it's different every year, and they wouldn't have the time to license and approve each year, maybe?!?!

No they ran out of stock so are using one that has been approved and used in States for a few years. it is explained on a piece of paper you get when you have the jab. You know the one you read afterwards.
