It is good, but to think that Burnden Park is remembered in general  for the Normid monstrosity is a travesty.

Still think its maddest thing to happen in the history of football grounds.

It was always normalised in my head till I explained to my children that we sold a quarter of the ground to let them build a supermarket on.

Its absolutely insane.

Hull at Boothferry Park had Iceland (the supermarket not the country) built onto their ground, though it was less prominent from TV angles

When we got promoted under Rioch my brother got me into the Civic reception in the town Hall. Speeches & dinner after the Town Square waving & applause.

I was sat on a table with, amongst others, the Council Planning official who gave the Normid approval.  He said 'ffs don't raise that, she gets very sensitive about it".

Go on, have a guess whether I did or not.

Normid though

The only reason I've heard of Normid is because they had a supermarket on our ground

I've only ever come across one at our ground

And I've never been in one

Has anyone here ever bought anything in normid?

Didn't the money from the sale save our bacon though?

By that time, arguably yes. But there was absolutely no reason for it to have been the shape it was. There was discussion of it being longer & slimmer & could have made the Embankment half it's depth most of the way along.

That fckg wall 5 yards in right up to the second goalpost was an abomination. There was a sizeable car park to the side which could have been reshaped. This was a proposal as an objection but this bint rejected it.

Guess where she came from.

(Tip. It's quite close, begins with W, ends in N and isn't Warrington).
